The Morning After

Over the course of one hot summer, a group of children in the rural south are forced to confront a tangle of difficult choices in a decaying world. 4500 planes are in the air over North America on the morning of September 11, 2001. After four horrifying crashes, no one knows if any other aircraft might be highjacked by terrorists, about to commit further acts of destruction. Where can 4500 planes, and thousands of passengers, safely land? And which might be Al-Qaeda missiles? At that very moment, 500 planes are westbound toward the US. 233 turn back to where they came from, but 167 are past the point of no return. And there is one tiny place on the map that has eyes on them all: Gander, Newfoundland. The lives of 45,000 people over the Atlantic are now in the hands of small team of air traffic controllers in remote, rural Gander, population 10,000.

In the ultra-Orthodox community men are educated not to look at women or think about them and a girl practices modesty in clothing, actions and thoughts. Marriage requires complete strangers to suddenly encounter their partner for the first time in an intimate situation with only rudimentary information.

Set in the early 1880s, this is the story of one of the last buffalo hunts in the Northwest. Sandy McKinzie is tired of hunting buffalo, and tired of killing-Charley on the other hand relishes the hunt and enjoys killing buffalo and Indians. When Charley kills an Indian raiding party, and takes their squaw as his own, tension develops between the two hunters, and matters will only be settled in a showdown.

On holiday in Istanbul, the Finnish girl Kajsa meets charming Norwegian Jakob on his last night of the holiday. She falls head over heels in love and they have a wonderful one night stand. The morning after Jakob leaves back home to Oslo, and Kajsa don't know more than his first name. Kajsa can't forget their meeting, and some time later she accidentally meets Jakob again in Oslo in a shop. But he can't remember anything from their previous meeting.
