Rob Mullins (jazz piano) has built his musical reputation around the world with a solid string of releases in the contemporary jazz field over the past twenty years. His rise to international acclaim as a composer and performer began with his "Soulscape" project, which earned him a Grammy Nomination for composition. Since that time, Rob has gone on to record 20 CD's of his music, three of which went Billboard Top Ten. Starting out on drums at age 11, Rob became a touring professional with a California Big Band by age 12, doing his 6th grade homework on a tour bus.

I think this is one of Kentons best recordings.Even though it was recorded live some 40 years ago, the sound quality is as good as, or even better than a studio.This is a rarity in Kenton's discography, a live performance, in which the musicianship and the band's connection to the audience are clearly heard and felt.Includes six previously unreleased tracks.Highly Recommended.

Don't Play With Love - The John L. Nelson Project is the highly anticipated recording of John L. Nelson's compositions. The album features jazz legends Louis Hayes, Vincent Herring, Jeremy Pelt, Dezron Douglas, and Richard Germanson, and was recorded at Paisley Park with Sharon L. Nelson as producer. John L. Nelson is perhaps best known as Prince's father, yet he was a jazz performer and most importantly, a prolific composer in his own right. For many years he intended to collaborate on this release with his eldest daughter, Sharon L. Nelson. After the passing of her father, and then the untimely passing of her brother, Sharon decided to complete the recording in honor of her father's 100th birthday.

Prince, the songwriter, singer, producer, one-man studio band and consummate showman, died on April 21, 2016 at his residence, Paisley Park, in Chanhassen, Minn, according to a statement from his publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure. He was 57. No cause of death has been given. In a statement, the Carver County sheriff, Jim Olson, said that deputies responded to an emergency call at 9:43 am: “When deputies and medical personnel arrived, they found an unresponsive adult male in the elevator. First responders attempted to provide lifesaving CPR, but were unable to revive the victim. He was pronounced deceased at 10:07 am.” The sheriff’s office said it would continue to investigate his death.
