Hand. Cannot. Erase. is the fourth solo studio album by British musician Steven Wilson. Steven John Wilson is an English musician and record producer, most associated with the progressive rock genre. He is well known as the founder, lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the band Porcupine Tree, as well as being a member of several other bands.

Steven Wilson's 4½ is a six-track (+ bonus track for Japan) stopgap mini album between 2015's Hand. Cannot. Erase. and whatever full-length comes next. Four tunes have origins in the previous album's sessions; another dates back to those from 2013's The Raven That Refused to Sing and Other Stories. There is also a re-recording of "Don't Hate Me" that first appeared on Porcupine Tree's 1998 offering, Stupid Dream. The players are by now familiar: Wilson's current working band comprises Guthrie Govan, Adam Holzman, Nick Beggs, Dave Kilminster, Craig Blundell, Marco Minnemann, Chad Wackerman, and Theo Travis. Opener "My Book of Regrets" is a nine-plus-minute exercise that commences with a seductive pop melody, and offers a hooky chorus and syncopated dynamics. It evolves into spiraling prog rock courtesy of Beggs' front-line Chris Squire-esque bassline, fueling Govan and Wilson's spiky…

4 ½ comprises 6 tracks with a total running time of 37 minutes. 4 of the songs originated during the sessions for Hand. Cannot. Erase., and one from the recording sessions for the previous album The Raven that Refused to Sing. The final track is a version of Don’t Hate Me, a song originally recorded by Porcupine Tree in 1998, and is based on a live recording made on the recent tour of Europe with additional recording later done in the studio. The vocals on this new version are sung as a duet between Steven and Ninet Tayeb.

In 2017 he shot back into the charts with his fifth solo album 'To the Bone' at #3 in the UK and #2 in Germany, which built on the success of fourth solo album 'Hand. Cannot. Erase.', which reached #13 in the UK and #3 in Germany.Originally released in 2011, 'Grace For Drowning' is the second solo album from Wilson. A more experimental and more eclectic record it built on the artistic inroads he forged with 2009's exceptionally well-received 'Insurgentes'. It is a modern homage to the late 60s and early 70's spirit of using the album as an artist's primary means of expression; combining jazz, classical and psychedelic music to create "journeys in sound".
