This double-disc set goes into Eric Burdon's entire recorded oeuvre from his time with the Animals and War to his solo material.

Discovered in Louisiana’s infamous Angola Prison Farm back in 1933, Huddie Ledbetter, better known as Lead Belly, went on to become the most famous Black folk and blues singer ever. His repertoire has been covered by artists as diverse as Nirvana, Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan. Born in the Deep South in the late 1880s, he was a living link between the end of slavery and disenfranchised African-Americans during the first part of the 20th Century. He bridged the gap between the false hopes engendered by Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and the despair of Segregation. Lead Belly created the folk boom that excited and illuminated the white New York literati as well as familiarising Europeans with the blues.

This album took shape when the producer Philippe Langlois, the guitarist Eric Bibb, and the harmonica player Jean-Jacques Milteau joined forces to record a tribute to the legendary Lead Belly. The latter, still too little known by the public at large, is the source for a multitude of timeless covers and compositions from the likes of Nirvana, The Animals, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bob Dylan… and many more! Many of the songs here are from live interpretations, performed both with and without and audience, which adds a palpable freshness to the disc.

The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970. The band lead by songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne. Their music is characterised by a fusion of Beatlesque pop, classical arrangements and futuristic iconography. During ELO's original 14-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide, and collected 19 CRIA, 21 RIAA, and 38 BPI awards. For a period in the mid 1970s, the band saw more success in the United States, where they were billed as "the English guys with the big fiddles". From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated twenty seven Top 40 songs on the UK Singles Chart, and fifteen Top 20 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits (20) without a number one single of any band in US chart history. In 2017 the classic ELO line-up have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
