Marie Laforêt is a French singer and actress, (born Maïténa Marie Brigitte Doumenach, on October 5, 1939, in Soulac-sur-Mer, Gironde). In 1978 she moved to Geneva, Switzerland and took out Swiss nationality. Her career began accidentally in 1959 when she replaced her sister at the last minute in a French radio talent contest Naissance d'une étoile (birth of a star) and won. Director Louis Malle then cast the young starlet in the film he was shooting at the time, Liberté, a project he finally abandoned, making Laforêt's first appearance on screen opposite actor Alain Delon in René Clément's 1960 drama Plein Soleil. Laforêt has been fond of folk music ever since she began recording in the early 1960s. She helped popularize the Bob Dylan song "Blowin' in the Wind" in France with her 1963 interpretation. On the B-side of the same EP she sings the classic American folk ballad "House of the Rising Sun". Other folk recordings include: "Viens sur la montagne", a 1964 French adaptation of the African-American spiritual "Go Tell It on the Mountain"…

The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970. The band lead by songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne. Their music is characterised by a fusion of Beatlesque pop, classical arrangements and futuristic iconography. During ELO's original 14-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide, and collected 19 CRIA, 21 RIAA, and 38 BPI awards. For a period in the mid 1970s, the band saw more success in the United States, where they were billed as "the English guys with the big fiddles". From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated twenty seven Top 40 songs on the UK Singles Chart, and fifteen Top 20 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band also holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits (20) without a number one single of any band in US chart history. In 2017 the classic ELO line-up have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Waylon Jennings begins here. One of the epochal careers in country music took root in September 1958 when Buddy Holly produced his first single. This 6-CD boxed set traces Waylon Jennings' early career from that first single to April 1968. After Holly's death, Waylon Jennings went to Arizona. His legendarily rare Phoenix album, 'Waylon at J.D.'s' is here, together with singles and demo's from the years in Arizona. The early folk-country recordings for A&M are also complete for the first time, including Four Strong Winds, Just To Satisfy You, and several unissued recordings.

The third and last of Bear Family's Everly box sets, Chained to a Memory 1966-1972, chronicles the final act of the Everly Brothers' prime years, beginning just after the duo started to shake their mid-'60s doldrums and documenting their subsequent revival as they shifted to country-rock, the sound they continued to mine until their acrimonious split in 1973. This is a weighty set, containing a hefty hardcover book and a bonus DVD in addition to ten CDs, but the extra length isn't merely Bear Family's modus operandi – it's needed to bring an end to a story this epic. Indeed, the music on Chained to a Memory is in some ways some of the most interesting the Everlys ever produced. As their star began to fade, the Everlys reconnected with their country beginnings, quite deliberately titling their 1968 makeover, Roots, finding a wealth of new sounds and sentiments within country-rock. They exhibited a keen ear for material from emerging songwriters, and they wrote some terrific new songs, songs that exhibited the widening chasm between the two brothers who shared a sound and continued to harmonize beautifully together even as their sensibilities began to drift apart.
