She was heard for the first time in June 1962 by a small but enthusiastic audience in Seiler's Café Atlantis in Basle: Elsie Bianchi sang and played what some call "bar jazz". It was great entertainment nevertheless and only a few jazz fans missed her performances. Elsie Bianchi learned to play the accordion when she was only five years old, somewhat later she began to play the piano and then she started to sing. One man with a well-trained ear and grand piano, the Villinger boss of SABA, H. G. Brunner-Schwer, offered Elsie Bianchi and her Trio the chance to record a total of 14 numbers in his professional studio in 1965.

Swiss singer-pianist Elsie Bianchi may not be a household name, but from the early 1950s through the 60’s she was one of the best jazz singers in Europe. Her sensuous voice and hip phrasing has shades of Anita O’Day. Elsie first gained fame through her appearances at the Zurich Jazz Festival in the early 50’s. Elsie and husband bassist Siro Bianchi toured the USA in 1958-59, playing at the legendary Lighthouse jazz club south of LA. She and Siro then began playing winters in Europe and summers in America before permanently moving to the States. Siro and MPS ‘house drummer’ Charly Antolini make it a tight trio.

Siouxsie & The Banshees began life as a Punk outfit (with Sid Vicious on drums, no less!) before mutating into Post-Punkers on their way to becoming one of the most influential Goth Rock band on the scene. To this day, over 10 years after their disintegration, the band's fanatical fan base continues to grow.

At last, The Telescopes's first four EPs are compiled as Early Studio Recordings, a reissue of their studio recordings from 1989 to 1990. Not only that, but they have been remastered to achieve the deserved sound of this legendary British band leading the late '80s and early '90s shoe-gaze and melodic noise scene alongside the likes of The Jesus And Mary Chain. The Telescopes, with their leader Stephen Lawrie, recorded these EPs in the same period as their first album, Taste (1989).The band's sound is tons of guitar noise and distortion covering beautiful melodies; this music is an absolute must in order to understand all indie and underground music coming from the U.K. and worldwide afterwards.
