The The Orb

Though no electronic act bested the Orb at creating a satisfying fusion of ambient music and dub, Sub Dub came the closest with its blend of studio production and live instrumentation. The quartet, which includes bassist John Ward, programmer Raz Mesinai, vocalist Ursula Ward, and Grant Stewart on tenor sax, debuted in 1994 with the Babylon Unite EP on TKI. After one more EP, Dawa Zangpo, Sub Dub released their debut album in 1996 on Instinct. Recalling the more dubbed-out moments of the Orb's U.F.Orb, Sub Dub's debut was a solid album. Though several tracks indulge the group's penchant for a bit of aimless wandering, the results are so pleasant that minor transgressions can easily be forgiven.

Prepare yourself for the powerful sounds emanating from the new Acid Mothers Temple The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. chapter! The second volume in Virgin's priceless Ambient series is a bit of a retread from the first, alternating classics from Virgin's rich back catalog with the new school of ambient electronica (of which, the label's store is much harder to come by). The result is an Orb remix (of the Grid) instead of a normal Orb track; the only other contemporary acts are the Future Sound of London project Amorphous Androgynous, William Orbit's Bass-O-Matic, Tony Thorpe's Voyager, and such intriguing but obviously label-centric acts as Verve and U2's The Edge. As far as classic ambient tracks go, Virgin is tops – Eno, Sakamoto, Robert Fripp, David Sylvian, Phil Manzanera, Klaus Schulze – though the lack of more up-to-date acts can be frustrating.

Solo includes Michael’s first four solo projects, Flammende Herzen, Sterntaler, Katzenmusik and Fernwärme, a Soundtracks and a Remixes & Live album (only with the vinyl boxset). Speaking about the release, Michael said: ‘I’m incredibly excited to announce my new boxset ‘Solo’. The opportunity to release my first four solo albums, as well as some new music in one package is amazing. This is a body of work that I’m very proud of.’

With it`s futuristic visuals Space Night pretty soon reached "cult status" among the young night watchers. A futuristic show that accompanied the afterwork and afterparty life of young people and electronic music fans. Coming home from the club at night and chilling to the sounds of the cult show, Aural Float created a bridge to chill out and come down. Space Night had certainly left its marks to a whole generation of electronic music enthusiasts.
