Bad Reputation is the eighth studio album by the Irish rock band Thin Lizzy, released in 1977. As the front cover suggests, most of the tracks feature only three-quarters of the band, with guitarist Brian Robertson only credited on three tracks. He had missed most of their previous tour, following a hand injury sustained in a brawl, and this album turned out to be his last studio effort with Thin Lizzy. Bad Reputation reached No. 4 in the UK Albums Chart.

Released in 1978, just as the hot streak starting with 1975's Fighting and running through 1977's Bad Reputation came to an end, Live and Dangerous was a glorious way to celebrate Thin Lizzy's glory days and one of the best double live LPs of the 70s. Of course, this, like a lot of double-lives of that decade - Kiss' Alive! immediately springs to mind - isn't strictly live; it was overdubbed and colored in the studio (the very presence of studio whiz Tony Visconti as producer should have been an indication that some corrective steering may have been afoot). But even if there was some tweaking in the studio, Live and Dangerous feels live, containing more energy and power than the original LPs, which were already dynamic in their own right. It's this energy, combined with the expert song selection, that makes Live and Dangerous a true live classic.

Thin Lizzy are a hard rock band formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. Two of the founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist and lead vocalist Phil Lynott, met while still in school. Lynott led the group throughout their recording career of twelve studio albums, writing most of the material. The singles "Whiskey in the Jar" (a traditional Irish ballad), "Jailbreak", and "The Boys Are Back in Town" were major international hits. After Lynott's death in 1986, various incarnations of the band emerged over the years based initially around guitarists Scott Gorham and John Sykes, though Sykes left the band in 2009. Gorham later continued with a new line-up including Downey.

This 2011 budget-priced U.K. collection offers up a nice balance between Thin Lizzy’s radio hits ( "Boys Are Back in Town", "Whiskey in the Jar", "Killer on the Loose", "Dancin’ in the Moonlight") and overlooked gems like "Soldier of Fortune", "Opium Trail", and "King’s Vengeance". Twenty tracks strong, Waiting For An Alibi: The Collection holds its own against other single-disc overviews like 2004’s Greatest Hits and 2006’s Definitive Collection (2002’s exhaustive box set Vagabonds Kings Warriors and Angels still provides the most bang for the buck) and provides the perfect gateway for listeners looking to get their first fix of Ireland’s first heavy rockers.

Still Dangerous, a live set from classic rockers Thin Lizzy, was released March 3, 2009. Viewed as a companion to the earlier Live and Dangerous album, this live show recorded in 1977 at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia is yet another thrilling performance by arguably one of rock 'n' roll's greatest dual lead guitar machines. Recently discovered on a shelf lying dormant inside a box marked "Philadelphia 2," guitarist Scott Gorham was astounded by the fact that the tapes even existed. The potential of this particular show was enough to grab legendary producer Glynn Johns out of retirement to do his magic on the tracks. Still Dangerous was recorded live in the prime of the Irish rock band's illustrious career, during the sold out "Bad Reputation" tour. Though Thin Lizzy was known for its revolving door membership, especially in the guitarist department, this is the lineup that brought us the albums Jailbreak, Bad Reputation, and of course, Live and Dangerous.

Recorded during Thin Lizzy's first Australian tour in 1978 (at a huge festival), Boys Are Back In Town was released for the first time in America through Rhino nearly 20 years after the actual concert (it was available as a Japanese import for years). The tour featured the Black Rose line-up of Lizzy - singer/bassist Phil Lynott, plus guitarists Scott Gorham and Gary Moore - but regular drummer Brian Downey was replaced by session-man Mark Nauseef for the shows (Downey remained behind to sort out 'personal problems' and would later re-join).
