"Mystic Waters" is a masterful weaving of multi-track orchestrations. This release was one of the best selling new age records of 1989. New age composer/keyboardist Davol had an early interest in music, receiving classical piano training as a child and studying jazz and classical harpsichord in college. Since the acquisition of a micro Moog synthesizer at the age of 13, he had an undying passion for electronic music and was addicted to the music of Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. Davol began writing and recording his own pieces as a hobby while he studied microbiology. Some of the tapes he passed out to friends made their way to Silver Wave Records, who offered Davol a recording contract. In 1989, he released his debut album, "Mystic Waves", and also received his Ph.D. in microbiology.
Timelines is the 18th solo album from veteran Norwegian ambient/electronic artist Erik Wøllo. It’s a warm, epic and shimmering cycle of memorable electronic music. Layers of acoustic guitar loops and pulsation-patterns create the foundation on which Wøllo’s distinct melodic piano themes are played. The pieces bring emotional synth lines and powerful deep basses together with delicate percussion arrangements. As a natural and important counterpoint to the expressive piano themes, Wøllo’s electric guitar ebow solos are both intense and haunting.
