This CD presents a complete recital given by the master violinist Joseph Szigeti in the Hancock Auditorium at the University of Southern California on 13 January 1957. This concert originally formed the last of a series of three concerts featuring works by 20th-century composers entitled ‘Eleven Masterpieces of the Twentieth Century’, which Szigeti performed at numerous college campuses throughout the United States in the late 1950s. He described this three-part series was ‘an incentive to break with the “one-programme-each-season” type of concertizing that the organized audience movement demands.’
WMRI is Russian synthesist Mike Winchester. He has quite a few releases spread throughout the Internet, on sites like Jamendo, AmieStreet, Bandcamp, etc. And while much of it is quite good, I feel that his work really shines on a series of recent releases that he alludes to as the “Ambient Gem Series”.~ Free Floating Music
Ptarkh is a prolific Russian synthesist who works in the darkest part of ambient and industrial music. The music which has unimaginable depth of creativity, highly layered with sounds at times it goes completely insane and aggressive and always saves the feeling of presence in the realistic, difficult, vast and impossible world.
Black Concept Series is a six piece set of shorter works recorded separate from any albums showing a completely different approach to music. Each set shows a unique sight on composition and sound design. It is marked with building of the worlds of organic heat, absolute emptiness, space radiation, nuclear devastation, eternal ocean and flowing currents. This was an experiment of making diverse abstract soundscapes besides the major output.

This unique release is built around main title track Deep Forest, which is actually a pre-WMRI track made by other member Alex Ilin. It was covered with dust for 3 years after recording and first issued only in 2006. It later remained in shadow of more popular Voices of Space and didn't get proper spread. Now it's a really precious gem with ageing more than eight years, but still sounding fresh and impressive. To be more alluring it is supported by other tracks of Alex recorded jointly with Mike Winchester. This is absolutely different look at WMRI music.
