"Fairyland" is a live album by jazz guitarist Larry Coryell. All songs were recorded on June 18, 1971 at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Coryell is accompanied by Chuck Rainey on bass and Bernard Purdie on drums.

"Gentle Eyes" is an album by Art Farmer recorded in Austria in 1972 and originally released on the Mainstream label.

"Disco Gardens" is the 2nd album by American R&B group Shalamar, released in 1978 on the SOLAR label. It features the line-up of Gerald Brown, Jeffrey Daniel and Jody Watley, and was the only Shalamar album on which Brown appeared. "Disco Gardens" was less successful than Shalamar's debut "Uptown Festival", peaking at #52 on the R&B chart and #171 on the Billboard chart. It contains early indications of what was to become the distinctive "SOLAR sound", most notably on the single release "Take That to the Bank" which was a UK Top 20 hit in early 1979.

A sextet, Aurra featured the vocals of Starlena Young and Curt Jones. Originally released in 1981, none of the set's nine cuts come in under four minutes, but then there are no nine-minute workouts either. The reggae-influenced "Kingston Lady" and their disjointed, disco hit "Are You Single" are the most memorable selections. Every song is pleasant, but often indistinguishable from the rest; if your mind wanders you have to consult the track listing to check what tune is playing and which one you just heard.

Instant Funk, the nine-piece funk unit discovered by Bunny Sigler, created a stir in 1979 when Salsoul released the single "I Got My Mind Made Up (You Can Get It Girl)." Swirling, screaming horns announce the chorus; hand claps, tambourines and a maniacal rhythm guitar battle the heavy bottom; and a woman delivers erotic lines for added impact. Salsoul followed the #20 pop and #1 R&B (for three weeks) hit with "Crying," a race horse whose relentless beat only subsides near the fade; Carmichael's vocal is passionate, almost deranged. "Never Let Me Go Away," a rare Instant Funk ballad, was so overblown the melody got buried. Spooky voices and haunted-house sounds wallpaper "Dark Vader"'s comic-book lyrics and funky hooks. Rolling horns pump "I'll Be Doggone" (not the Marvin Gaye hit), a cooker that rolls for seven minutes. Four of the eight tracks are killers; a pretty good average for a disco/funk group.

One of a handful of true greats in the jazz vocal world, Carmen McRae has always been considered a singer s singer. Never content to remain static, Ms. McRae was constantly evolving throughout her 40+ year career and eventually was recognized as one of the most influential jazz vocalists of the 20th Century alongside Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. It was in the mid-seventies that Ms. McRae experienced a strong resurgence that was capped off by her performance on this incredible session from 1978. Showcasing her impressive powers alongside a veritable who's who of young jazz greats including Freddie Hubbard, Hubert Laws, Grover Washington Jr., Hank Crawford, Jorge Dalto, Cornell Dupree and Chris Parker, Ms. McRae recorded one of the greatest albums of her impressive career. Featuring songs written by Al Jarreau, Billy Joel, Carol Bayer Sager and other modern writers - Ms. McRae proved that she could not only handle any type of material, but she could deliver the songs as if they written for her and her alone.

"Red Beans" is an album by American jazz organist Jimmy McGriff recorded in 1976 and released on the Groove Merchant label.

An album featuring disco and light pop tunes. T-Connection, more than anything else, had a knack for disco. The only single to chart from this outing was the title track "On Fire." Flavored with electric guitar solos, percussion solos and hyped vocals, this brisk number cracked the Billboard R&B Top 30 at #27 after 15 weeks. Other disco cuts also include "Let Yourself Go," "Cush" and "Playing Games." With the exception of being tagged a disco unit, their music is more pop-oriented than R&B.
