As usual, the price is right and the selection generous. Covering the '50s, '60s, and '70s, the disc includes both vocal and instrumental tracks from the likes of Sarah Vaughan, Bill Evans, Dinah Washington, Erroll Garner, Stan Getz, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday.

Compilation CD released in 2004 by Starbuck Coffee's on-line music magazine Hear Music. Their "Artists Choice" series offer compilations hand-picked by artists with established credibility (e.g. Lucinda Williams and Ray Charles). The 14 songs chosen by the lovely Norah Jones for this CD includes "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" from The Band. In an ad explaining the songs she chose, Ms. Jones described the musical influences in her life as – "the songs she heard in the car when she was a kid, the importance of Ray Charles, and why she loves the sound of Levon Helm's voice".

The one thing that has always been constant in my life is music. I came from a musical background. I was always singing in church, school choir, or jamming with friends. My mom tells me that I started singing when I was just three years old. Even then I would spend hours and hours every day singing and listening to music on the radio. Melody’s always came easy to me. I listened to every single instrument being played in the song realizing that each one had it’s own special thing to do. And it all came together like magic. Even though I have continued to make music my life, it still feels like magic to me when I get to sing with my current band.

I found this album completely by accident when I was looking up various renditions of Miami Beach Rhumba for a rehearsal. The track was actually on Youtube and piqued my interest enough to spring for the entire album. What a serendipity because I discovered what our friends Down Under already knew - Seidel is an amazing vocalist and pianist, and this album is a treasure trove of beautifully arranged music.
