For those new to the band's work, Polyphia is essentially a 4 piece instrumental prog rock band formed in 2014. They have yet to find a drummer they can stick with, but the guitarists and bassist are permanent members. This 5xCD box set from Cherry Red offers a compelling look at shoegaze's prime era. Still in a Dream takes a wide trawl approach to its genre, which has upsides and downsides. As with Rhino’s goth box A Life Less Lived, shoegaze is generously interpreted to include antecedents and formative influences, which bulks up the quality.

Susanna comes late in the sequence of Handel’s oratorios but in some ways the composer looks back in it to his experience of Italian opera. It largely comprises a sequence of arias (many in the repeated, da capo form of opera seria) as it relates the story from the Biblical Apocrypha of Susanna who is falsely accused of adultery and eventually vindicated through the clever judicial manoeuvrings of the young prophet Daniel.

Joanne Shaw Taylor has spent the spring writing and recording her fifth studio album ‘Wild’ in Nashville and is ready to release it on September 30th. ‘Wild’ will be available in 4 formats: Standard and Deluxe Edition CDs and Heavyweight Black Vinyl and Deluxe Vinyl Double LPs. Recorded at Grand Victor Sound Studios, Nashville TN, ‘Wild’ has been produced by Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Aerosmith, Journey, Iron Maiden) and features members of Joe Bonamassa’s band who Joanne met whilst performing with him. Bonamassa has in the past described her as “A superstar in waiting”. British blues star, Joanne says: “Recording at Grand Victor was incredibly inspiring. It is quite the legendary studio. Dolly Parton cut Jolene and I Will Always Love you here. And Chet Atkins worked here.
