Psychedelic Rock

Wool's sole, self-titled LP has kernels of a promising pop-psychedelic band, but is too derivative and ordinary for even the collector's world to make much of a fuss about. Part of the problem is an over-reliance on cover material; only three of the nine tracks are originals…

When Stiltskin’s debut album "The Mind’s Eye" was released in 1994, Ray Wilson was almost totally unknown in the Genesis camp. Celebrated as a grunge sensation, Stiltskin were hardly in the same league with Genesis. The rest is already history. Ray became singer with Genesis, but only for a brief stint, and Stiltskin disbanded even before that because of arguments in the band. Nothing new there in the music business…

Robert Jr. Lockwood's music shows the influence of not only his stepfather, Robert Johnson but also that of jazz guitarists Charlie Christian and Eddie Durham. By the mid-50's he found himself in the enviable position of being THE studio guitar player in Chicago. He can be heard on classic blues songs like Little Walter's "My Babe" and "Boom, Boom, Out Go The Lights"; Sonny Boy Williamson's "Nine Below Zero" and "Eyesight To The Blind." He also recorded with Muddy Waters, Otis Spann, Eddie Boyd, Willie Mabon, Sunnyland Slim, Roosevelt Sykes and others. This 1970 session was Robert's first album as a leader!
