Guidati da Tempesta, ed assistiti telepaticamente da Emma Frost, gli X-Men raggiungono la base antartica di Sinistro convinti che il malvagio genetista abbia preso il neonato che ha riacceso la speranza nella comunità mutante. Mentre si svolge la battaglia, a Washington, i Nuovi X-Men, introdotti in uno dei covi dei Purificatori, fronteggiano Lady Deathstrike che viene messa in serie difficoltà da X-23. Nel momento in cui si accende la battaglia, interviene Rictor che difendendo Pixie le permette di teleportare gli amici lontano dal pericolo, disperdendoli però durante il tragitto. L'urlo telepatico della giovane mutante interrompe il contatto di Emma con la squadra d'assalto in Antartide e l'Uomo Ghiaccio viene inviato a recuperare gli studenti. Intanto gli X-Men, messi in serie difficoltà da Sinistro, senza l'ausilio della Frost soccombono all'attacco dei Marauders.

is a three-issue mini-series in anthology format that illustrates the conception of the Dark X-Men, a Marvel Comics comic book team. They made their debut during the crossover between Dark Avengers and Uncanny X-Men written by Matt Fraction, as part of the broader Dark Reign storyline. Each issue has 3 11-page stories, each dedicated to one of the Dark X-Men and how they came to be part of the team. This first issue focuses on Namor, Mimic, and Dark Beast. Charles Xavier, sopravvissuto al proiettile sparato da Alfiere ma ridotto in coma¹, si trova nelle mani di Exodus. Il leader degli Accoliti, Amelia Voght, Frenzy e Omega Sentinel discutono cosa fare del mentore degli X-Men. Frenzy vorrebbe ucciderlo mentre Amelia, ancora legata a Xavier, è chiaramente contraria. Anche Omega Sentinel, liberatasi dal controllo di Malice, si trova d'accordo con Amelia sentendosi in debito con Xavier per averla aiutata in passato. Alla fine Exodus decide di mantenerlo in vita ma solo perche è interessato a recuperare le preziose informazioni contenute nella sua mente.
