Formally established as a musical presence in August 2004, Australis represents the never-ending quest for the acoustics of emotions, the rhythms of passion and the unique melodies of the human condition. The name "Australis" means "Southern" or "from the South" in ancient Latin, and symbolizes the region of the planet where the project's founder experienced his first own emotions. Constantly experimenting in the never ending universe of sound and acoustics, Australis compiles in this album a unique mixture of styles and genres, all linked together by his distinctive acoustic signature.
Adrift, Australis' fourth physical album, brings together twelve brand new and original musical expeditions to the uncharted lands where emotions roam free; gathered in a compilation three years in the making. Composed and produced during a difficult period of his life, many of the tracks in this release have been born from real situations and frames of mind. The album's title, a hint by itself, invites exploration of the susprisingly vast universe nested within the heart.
The interbreeding of sound and spirit, Australis (winner of the Morpheus Music 2004 Best New Independent Artist award) journeys through new age, world, electronica and filmic genres; creating unique landscapes where heart and melody interweave seamlessly.
Australis is the name for the Utah based Electronic New Age musical project by multifaceted Peruvian-born composer/producer Oscar Aguayo, although this name is often used to refer to him directly. He named his project "Australis" (which in Latin literally means "from the South") because that word symbolizes his origins and the places where he received his primary musical influences.
Part luxury cruise ship, part expedition vessel, Stella Australis is the only ship built specifically to navigate the remote fjords of Patagonia at the furthest tip of South America. On her last voyage of the season, Stella’s Captain faces off against tight corridors and the notorious Drake Passage – the roughest, most unpredictable seas on the planet. Meanwhile, the ship’s expedition leader scrambles to guide his guests ashore safely through ice-filled waters, seeking out spectacular glaciers, elusive seals and a landing on Cape Horn, known for centuries as the End of the World.
