The Bay City Rollers were one of the brightest things to happen in the tumultuous 1970s, illuminating a dark decade marred by falling stock markets, a plummeting economy and industrial unrest. Alan Longmuir, an apprentice plumber from Edinburgh, was inspired by the Beatles to form a band. After enlisting his brother and throwing a dart at a map, they became the Bay City Rollers.

On their second album, the Bay City Rollers attempted to break away from their image as pop puppets by taking on a greater portion of the behind-the-scenes chores. Eric Faulkner and Stuart "Woody" Wood wrote seven of the album's 12 songs (lead singer Les McKeown also contributed to two of them), and the band also performs the majority of the instrumental work themselves on the album's surprisingly complex arrangements, which include such instruments as a mandolin, a violin, and even an accordion.

It took them four years to make it (in every sense of the phrase), but the Bay City Rollers' debut album could not have kicked off more explosively, with the mind-mangling chant of "Shang-a-Lang," their third hit single but the first to truly state the band's business in mile-high neon-lit tartan letters. And the fact that two more major smashes still lurked onboard only amplifies the album's achievement – at last, a teenybop idol that wasn't afraid to spread its wings and fly.

The Bay City Rollers are a Scottish pop rock band known for their worldwide teen idol popularity in the 1970s. They have been called the "tartan teen sensations from Edinburgh", and "the first of many acts heralded as the 'biggest group since the Beatles'". The group's line-up had many changes over the years, but the classic line-up during its heyday included guitarists Eric Faulkner and Stuart John Wood, singer Les McKeown, bassist Alan Longmuir, and drummer Derek Longmuir. The line-up in 2018 includes guitarist Stuart John Wood (Woody), singer Ian Thomson, bassist Marcus Cordock and drummer Jamie McGrory.

Wouldn't You Like It? was the third studio album to be released by the Scottish pop group, Bay City Rollers. The LP, issued in the UK in late 1975, saw a marked change in the group's musical direction: all the songs save one were the band's own compositions. The one outside-written tune, "Give a Little Love", was a smash UK hit, and the only single released from the album. The album also included, in the form of a giant letter, a free color picture book of the individual members, with a band picture on the front.

The first Bay City Rollers album to see simultaneous world-wide release was also, in the eyes of the tartan faithful, the first to reveal a serious crack in the band's hitherto impregnable armor. Founder Alan Longmuir had been eased out in favor of teenage wunderkind Ian Mitchell, songwriters Bill Martin and Phil Coulter had moved on to groom other would-be teeny bop idols, and Dedication was the Rollers giant step toward both musical and critical credibility.
