Pet Sounds is famous for its use of multiple layers of unorthodox instrumentation as well as other cutting edge audio techniques for its time. It's considered the best Beach Boys album, and one of the best of the 1960s. The group here reached a whole new level in terms of both composition and production, layering tracks upon tracks of vocals and instruments to create a richly symphonic sound. It's been ranked No. 1 in several music magazines' lists of the greatest albums of all time, including NME, The Times and Mojo Magazine. It was ranked No. 2 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.

Although somewhat unimaginatively titled, 1973's Beach Boys in Concert is significantly more than a hastily compiled live collection of hits. To the contrary, the set includes highlights from the band's earliest sides ("Surfer Girl") through to the groundbreaking Smile era ("Good Vibrations" and "Heroes and Villains") as well as more concurrent material ("Sail On Sailor" and "Marcella").

Surfin' U.S.A. is the second album by American rock band the Beach Boys. It reached number two in the US, lasting 78 weeks on the albums chart, eventually being certified gold by the RIAA, and brought the group newfound national success. Like the group's debut album, production was credited ostensibly to Capitol's representative for Artists and Repertoire, Nick Venet, although bandleader Brian Wilson was heavily involved in the album's composition. The album marks the beginning of his practice to doubletrack vocals, resulting in a fuller sound.

Shut Down Volume 2 is the fifth album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on March 2, 1964 on Capitol. Produced by Brian Wilson, it was the first of three studio albums that the band would release in 1964. The album is the first not to feature rhythm guitarist David Marks, who departed from the band following disagreements with manager Murry Wilson. The "Volume 2" in the album's title refers to a previously released multi-artist compilation album featuring and named after the Beach Boys' song "Shut Down", issued eight months earlier by the band's label, Capitol.
