The challenge of any progressive rock or metal is to be both creatively complex and accessible. Sometimes you need the latter just to get the listener to consider the former. With their third release The Lotus Effect, Sun Caged seems to want the intrigue of their arrangements to persuade you of their accessibility. Or perhaps not. The Lotus Effect will take some work from the listener: patience and attention is necessary to mine its depths.

The long-awaited 4th album of Electric Asturias, which heads to a new dimension with "Fourth Dimension", a melodic and dramatic suite of over 20 minutes of progressive rock music.
Electric Asturias' unique aesthetic sense of melody and dramatic composition remains unchanged. This new album is an ambitious work with the theme of "Dimensions," and while it has the stylistic beauty of "progressive rock," it also takes into account the culture of today's 2023 era, and is filled with an experimental spirit as it moves toward the next "dimension. Starting with "Gate of Hell," a hard-hitting depiction of an extreme mental landscape, followed by the soulful "Fourth Dimension," a suite of over 20 minutes in length, and "Solace Of The Caged Bird," the first vocal piece, the album is rich in variety and offers a one-of-a-kind world that is unlike anything else on the planet.

Originally intended as a side-project, Subsignal were founded back in 2007 by former Sieges Even members Arno Menses (Vocals) and Markus Steffen (Guitars). The first result of this collaboration was a song called ‘A Wallflower On The Day Of Saint Juliana’ which eventually appeared under the title ‘Eyes Wide Open’ on the 2007-Sieges Even-output ‘Paramount’. After Arno and Markus had left the band in the summer of 2008, they immediately started to look for adequate musicians to turn the project into a functional ‘real’ band. The first to join was Ralf Schwager (Bass), who was known for his work with German progmetal outfit Dreamscape. The line-up was completed by the Dutch drummer Roel van Helden (Sun Caged) and keyboarder David Bertok (also Dreamscape).

One has to hand it to the Vienna Art Orchestra; this is one adventurous band of Austrians. On Centenary Journey, recorded live in March ’01 at the Sofiensäle, Vienna, the VAO makes an heroic (and broadly successful) effort to compress a century of ever–shifting Jazz styles into one expansive snapshot. Unlike Ken Burns’ recent (and controversial) television series, Jazz, which was weighted heavily in favor of the music’s early pioneers with the last forty years or so telescoped into one hour–long (or ninety–minute) episode, The VAO’s enterprise leans rather conspicuously in the opposite direction, being evenly divided between Jazz as it developed from 1900 through the ’50s (the first seven selections) and in the years from 1960 to the present (the last seven).
AltaVia formed in 2008 in a small town in northern Italy, when after leaving his former band, Andrea Stagni (keyboards and vocals) started searching for new musicians. Davide, local musician and friend, introduced him to Marcello Bellina (drums, vocals), Mauro Monti (guitars, vocals) and Giuliano Vandelli (bass), who accidentally were looking for a keyboard player for a new project. That just seemed to be a perfect match for everyone. After the first rehearsals sessions, they realized that even though they all came from different musical backgrounds, they were all eager to head in the same new direction. Backing vocalist Betty Copeta joined the band after a few months.
