Caged Progressive

Originally intended as a side-project, Subsignal were founded back in 2007 by former Sieges Even members Arno Menses (Vocals) and Markus Steffen (Guitars). The first result of this collaboration was a song called ‘A Wallflower On The Day Of Saint Juliana’ which eventually appeared under the title ‘Eyes Wide Open’ on the 2007-Sieges Even-output ‘Paramount’. After Arno and Markus had left the band in the summer of 2008, they immediately started to look for adequate musicians to turn the project into a functional ‘real’ band. The first to join was Ralf Schwager (Bass), who was known for his work with German progmetal outfit Dreamscape. The line-up was completed by the Dutch drummer Roel van Helden (Sun Caged) and keyboarder David Bertok (also Dreamscape).

On the Road 1982 features the band's tenth anniversary tour performance from The Hague, Netherlands. Unfortunately, as the liner notes explain, the original tapes were lost, and the recording presented here draws from the version that passed through the mixing desk. While the end result is still better than your garden-variety bootleg, the sound of the "Camel Live" ladle scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel is inescapable. Camel was promoting The Single Factor at the time (no wonder they called it the tenth anniversary tour), with a cast that bore little resemblance to any popular incarnation of the band.

During the early '90s, Phish emerged as heirs to the Grateful Dead's throne. Although their music was somewhat similar to the Dead's sound – an eclectic, free-form rock & roll encompassing elements of folk, jazz, country, bluegrass, and pop – the group adhered more to jazz-derived improvisation than folk tradition.

Celebrated LA based noise rock band Liars have a new album on the way that is apparently titled "Theme from Crying Fountain". It's the band's eighth album and the first with the band becoming Angus Andrew's solo project (since the departure of Aaron Hemphill). This will be the band's first album since 2014's "Mess". "TFCF" was heavily teased through teaser videos over the course of several months. Now thanks to a Danish iMusic posting, we know the album is coming August 25th through Mute.
