In 1977 Urban Verbs rehearsed in the Atlantis Bldg at 930 "F" St. NW Washington D.C.. Robert Goldstein began to book bands in a derelict bar in the building named The Atlantis Club: which was where Urban Verbs played their first shows and became a nexus of the DC New Wave / Punk rock scene. In 1980 the Atlantis Club became the 9:30 Club. Urban Verbs played CBGB’s in 1978 with the Cramps and producer Brain Eno was in the audience. The band received numerous positive reviews in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the City Paper among others. Urban Verbs became the darlings of the DC avante garde art scene playing numerous shows at the Washington Project for the Arts, DC Space, the Pension Building and the Corcoran School of Art.

2020 release. At the turn of the '80s, a new generation of musicians appeared who saw synthesizers not as dehumanizing machines but as musical instruments that could be coaxed into creating modern, beautiful and decidedly emotional music. It was almost as if the musicians were intentionally creating this music to prove the doubters wrong. Compiled by Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs, The Tears Of Technology celebrates this brief period when scruffy synth duos from the provinces broke through and took over British pop. Like mellotrons before them, synths could project a strange and deep emotion; listen to OMD's 'Sealand', or the Human League's 'WXJL Tonight', and it was clear that something in the wiring had an inherent melancholy. In the '60s and '70s, the synthesizer had mostly been regarded as either a novelty or a threat. Tomorrow's World warned us that the cold, heartless synth would soon make orchestras redundant.

In December 2015 Cold Chisel ended their massive One Night Stand tour with three special shows they dubbed The 'Last Stand' of the Sydney Entertainment Centre. These wild, unhinged and emotional shows were played immediately prior to the iconic venue's demolition and for Cold Chisel it had a double sense of occasion, given that the "Ent Cent" was the venue where Cold Chisel played their legendary farewell shows back in December, 1983 - the band not playing together again for another 15 years.

Australian rock veterans Cold Chisel may have continued to remain a crowd-drawing, if slightly sporadic, live presence throughout the last decade, but up until now have been strangely reluctant to add to their back catalog of national treasures. However, following the death of their drummer Steve Prestwich earlier in the year, Jimmy Barnes and company have regrouped for their first new compositions in over 13 years, ensuring that All for You is more intriguing than your average cynical cash-in compilation. Indeed, alongside the emotive barroom balladry of the title track and the old-school rockabilly of "HQ454 Monroe," both of which fit comfortably next to the other 18 more familiar favorites, the track list, selected by thousands of visitors on their official website, also highlights the fact that this is very much a fan-friendly affair.

During the first quarter-century of the Cold War, upholding human rights was rarely a priority in U.S. policy toward Latin America. Seeking to protect U.S. national security, American policymakers quietly cultivated relations with politically ambitious Latin American militaries—a strategy clearly evident in the Ford administration's tacit support of state-sanctioned terror in Argentina following the 1976 military coup d’état.
