Alice Cooper was oorspronkelijk een band onder leiding van zanger Vincent Damon Furnier. De band pionierde een theatrale en gewelddadige soort heavy metal, bedoeld om te shockeren. Hoewel de visuele effecten zeer belangrijk waren voor hun impact, was de muziek bijna net zo herkenbaar, gedreven door rauwe, eenvoudige riffs en melodieën afgeleid van niet alleen guitar pop uit de jaren 60 maar tevens show tunes. Het was de meest fundamentele en aangrijpende rock & roll, zelfs wanneer de band zich in psychedelica en art rock waagden. Nadat de oorspronkelijke groep uiteen viel en Furnier een solocarrière als Alice Cooper begon, verloor zijn muziek veel van het theatrale vermogen en werd het gewoon heavy metal.

Pour vous, en avant première mondiale c’est L’employé, et ça fait froid dans le dos. Ce week-end, je me suis rendu au festival du podcast de Paris, l’occasion pour moi de parler avec des créateurs, des producteurs, des journalistes ainsi que de découvrir de nouveaux contenus. Sur les conseils de Lou Howard, je me rends à 14h dans la salle rencontre pour assister à l’avant-première d’une fiction audio : L’employé. Je ne m’étais pas informé de ce à quoi j’allais assister (mais en gros, on a vu une porte avec de la lumière, on est entré). On nous donne des casques et comme au cinéma, chaque spectateur présent se retrouve, en même temps que les autres, plongé dans un autre univers. Certains observent les réactions de leur voisin, d’autre fixent le plafond, d’autres ferment les yeux pour visualiser la scène. Chacun à notre manière, nous sommes plongés dans une expérience auditive nouvelle. A la fin des 30 minutes d’écoute, je me tourne vers mon ami, nous sommes tous deux la bouche grande ouverte, les yeux écarquillés : le « mind blown » le plus synchro possible.

The name Alice Cooper originally referred to both the band and its lead singer (born Vincent Furnier).

Welcome 2 My Nightmare is the 26th studio album by Alice Cooper, released in September 2011. The idea for the album came about soon after the thirtieth anniversary of the original Welcome to My Nightmare album, while Cooper was talking with producer Bob Ezrin, who proposed the idea of a sequel to Welcome to My Nightmare. Cooper liked the idea, and decided to recruit previous members of the Alice Cooper band.
