"On Cocoon Crash, their follow-up to their breakthrough second album Paradise in Me, K's Choice is determined to showcase their musical diversity. As a result, the album is a bit scattershot, since it runs the gamut from jangling folk-rock to roaring post-grunge. It's all tied together by Sarah Bettens' vocals, but she's more of a chameleon than a strong identity, fitting her talents to the song instead of bending them toward her demands. Consequently, the album can sound like a post-Lilith Fair alt-rock sampler, but it's enjoyable, simply because K's Choice's melodic skills have improved and they're capable of delivering good alt-rock songs, even if they are a little faceless. Even if the band fails to create a distinctive identity for themselves on Cocoon Crash, its craft signals enough of a leap forward to make it a successful third album. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi" (All Music Guide)

"This Argentinian outfit, now based in Berlin, has developed a distinctively new style of tango, influenced by jazz, contemporary classical music and electronica, while maintaining strong links with the dance form's rich traditions. The compositions are the key to their success - powerful and dramatic pieces (…) The production is sharp and clear throughout, with clever integration of acoustic and electronic sounds, but Almada and Iannaccone never lose the plot or the necessary emotion, throwing in all the grand gestures you expect from tango." 4/5 ~The Guradian

I did not like the first song on this CD, it simply did not grab me. Okay, that's out of the way.

I agree with the reviewer below, the Higher Order of Magnitude comments. The rest of the songs on this CD are all compositions of extraordinarily high quality. While C!B!B! is lightly attractive as pleasant back-ground ear candy in ordinary social circumstances, closer examination of the lyrics and deeper listening to the music reveal fantastic contemporary poetry and magnificent accompanying music.

On their debut LP, Why Trains Crash, The Pretty Flowers continue in the tradition of bands like Superchunk who blurred the lines between punk and indie rock. While the band is too “indie” for studded belt crowd and a bit too gritty for the average indie rocker, they’ll be a welcome respite for those who have little use for the boxes genres can create.
