In questo libro sono ben trattati gli avvenimenti militari che videro coinvolti prima lo C.S.I.R. e poi l’ARM.I.R.; analizzeremo pertanto le prime operazioni svolte dalle truppe italiane in Russia. seguiremo poi le operazioni dell’8ª Armata nell’avanzata verso il Don, la prima battaglia difensiva dell’agosto 1942, ed infine l’offensiva sovietica del dicembre dello stesso anno, la ritirata e la reazione ai tentativi avversari di accerchiamento del Corpo d’Armata Alpino nel gennaio del 1943. Lo straordinario corredo iconografico comprende più di 100 rare e inedite fotografie, ritraenti gli uomini e i mezzi del C.S.I.R. e dall’ARM.I.R. in azione, i luoghi dei combattimenti e i volontari cosacchi nel R.E.I..Incluse diverse mappe a colori illustranti le varie fasi della campagna.
