This is not a film score album. Not even an album with cover versions. Not at all. On the contrary, it is a journey, a sort of free and rigorous wandering in a world which is both alien and familiar to us. So, could it be Cinema? Yes, no doubt about it… But Cinema which has been remembered, revisited, rephrased.

“I discovered Jack London fairly recently – in August 2016. This work so powerful, so rich, has been by my side ever since. In my daily life, a companion on my travels and an inspiration to my music. That’s where I see Jack London’s real force as being: an intimate sensitive ability to reach into our lives with his own, to become the friend, brother, comrade in whose company each day brings a new story. The necessity of a journey across the Atlantic to play this music on the footsteps of Jack London became obvious. Ultimately, it led the trio to record this album in his hometown, Oakland.”

We hear juicy, fine and atmospheric jazz from two such unusual imitators, musicians and wonderful instrumentalists. Familiar themes take on completely new colors in their interpretation, especially since the closeness and intimacy of this musical encounter can be heard in their duo.

The term “Chamber Jazz” is much overused, almost as much as as the word “Supergroup”, and yet this album is undoubtedly both. A genuine European Supergroup playing intricate and intelligent chamber jazz. This is the second album from the Velvet Revolution issued, like the first, by the increasingly impressive and prolific Hungarian label BMC (Budapest Music Centre). The Velvet’s first prizewinning album A Short Moment Of Zero G came out three years ago and since then the trio have clearly been performing together and working in the studio, with the result that their sound is even more integrated and intuitive.
