Clark Terry is joined by his old Count Basie bandmate Ernie Wilkins for this 1975 concert at the Montmartre in Copenhagen, though it was not released until 2003. The terrific rhythm section consists of expatriate pianist Horace Parlan, bassist Mads Vinding, and drummer Bjarne Rostvold. Terry steals the show in the lengthy workout of "Bye Bye Blackbird" with his trademark solos in which he alternates between flügelhorn and muted trumpet.
Karen Marie Ørsted’s pop ascendance happened so fast, she could hardly catch her breath. A year after releasing her debut album, the Danish singer struck gold with a feature on Major Lazer's “Lean On,” a global hit that broke streaming records and earned MØ collaborations with Justin Bieber, Snakehips, and Charli XCX. Despite pressure to release a follow-up, she wouldn’t be rushed. Instead, she left for Los Angeles to fulfill a lifelong dream of living in California. Her experience was bittersweet. On Forever Neverland—a nod to Hollywood’s obsession with youth—she serves up big, euphoric pop songs that are both soul-wrenching and sunny, and that wrestle to reconcile the city’s natural beauty (“Sun in Our Eyes,” featuring Diplo) with its superficiality (“California, you’re aware that everybody wants ya,” she sings on "Purple Like the Summer Rain”). The album’s lone interlude will resonate with anyone who’s spent time on Sunset Blvd.: “Right now all I want to do is call up my mom/And get my ass out of West Hollywood.”
Prudence was one the most important bands on the Norwegian prog scene in the '70's, which included the likes of Aunt Mary, Junipher Greene, Titanic, Popol Vuh (Ace), Ruphus, Folque and HØST. They fused rock with old party/dance music from Trøndelag and (on their last album) sang in their local dialect, and thereby created a rock style dubbed Trønderrock.
Danish-Scottish classic rock band formed around the members Doogie White and Steen Mogensen, they released their debut album in the fall of 2000…
The title of the new album says it all: Opus, the new release of Danish music project Afenginn, has indeed become a major work, consisting of four movements - just like a classical symphony. Within those pieces, an unusual world of sounds unfolds, largely unspoilt by traditional patterns and structures. Influenced by folk, world music and classical music, Afenginn have created their own individual style, acoustic, innovative, dynamic and doleful, which has brought them a wealth of awards and grants in their home country as well as worldwide appreciation and success. Afenginn was founded in 2002 in Copenhagen by musicology student Kim Rafael Nyberg from Finland and Rune Kofoed from Denmark.
