Dave Matthews Band Crash

This is the follow-up to the highly successful Under The Table And Dreaming album. Included are black and white photos of the band, an introduction and 12 songs; including the hit singles 'Too Much' and 'Crash Into Me'.

"Away from the World" is the eighth studio album by Dave Matthews Band (DMB). Dave Matthews Band one of only two groups in chart history to have five consecutive studio albums enter atop the chart. Dave Matthews Band recorded "Away From The World" with Steve Lillywhite, who produced the band's first three studio records "Under The Table And Dreaming", "Crash" and "Before These Crowded Streets". The album debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 with album sales of 266,000 for the week. This was the third lowest debut sales of an album since Crash but the band's sixth straight No.1 debuting studio album.

In the Summer of 1997 Dave Matthews Band was no doubt still celebrating the success of their sophomore major label effort, Crash, and the Grammy win for So Much To Say. This momentum continued into a tour that included Bela Fleck and the Flecktones as openers. Bela himself was a regular fixture on stage, guesting on tunes that included Crash Into Me, Typical Situation, Minarets and Ants Marching. Also featured on this tour was a Dave solo encore work in progress, Leave Me Praying, which later became Don’t Drink the Water, the first single off the band’s next album.

Even after Dave Matthews scuttled recording sessions with producer Steve Lillywhite in 2000 and turned to Glen Ballard to co-write and produce what became Everyday, he and his band performed songs from the abortive sessions in concert, and they eventually reworked the material into the 2002 album Busted Stuff.

Pulling together 22 singles from 1994 to today, Where Are You Going features hits such as “Satellite,” “Crash Into Me,” “Ants Marching,” and more. Including tracks from all ten studio albums, seven of which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Albums Chart, this newest compilation showcases the incredible musical journey of Dave Matthews Band.

Eleven official live albums in one discography is an awful lot, but Dave Matthews manages to throw a few surprises in on 2010’s Live in New York City. A double-album capturing their second night at their July 2010 stint at Citi Field, this finds DMB downplaying their big hits – the biggest here is the ballad “Crash into Me” – in favor of moody selections from deep in his catalog, including songs from Matthews’ 2003 solo album Some Devil. This lends the performance a meditative quality unusual for such a large setting – even the extended numbers (five songs clock in over ten minutes, two of them over 15) don’t dig deep so much as float, the improvisations relying on texture instead of groove.
