Tom Steiner écrit à la chaîne des romans sous plusieurs pseudonymes, du policier au récit d'horreur, en passant par les collections style Harlequin. Il est sur le point de se marier avec Ariane, une attachée de presse extrêmement dynamique, qui rêve de faire de lui un grand écrivain.
Or, un soir, alors qu'il dîne près de chez lui, en compagnie de sa fiancée, débarque dans le restaurant Nina, son ex-femme, dont il n'a plus eu aucune nouvelle depuis leur divorce houleux, sept ans auparavant. Cette rencontre aurait pu être sans conséquence. Seulement Nina, enceinte de sept mois, vient d'être plaquée par son compagnon et n'a pas un sou en poche. Elle ne sait même pas où dormir.
Tom va donc être obligé de venir en aide, bien malgré lui, à celle qui a été le grand amour de sa vie.

When Doris Walker frantically recruits a last minute replacement for a drunken Santa for Macy's Christmas parade, he seems just ideal for he job and perhaps for good reason - he says his name is Kris Kringle and that he's the real Santa Claus. She pays him no mind and at the department store, he's proving be popular as well. He seems to be able to speak many languages and knows just what kids would like to have and creates a bit of a sensation when he refers shoppers to other stores rather than Macy's. When Kris has a run-in with the Department store's psychological tester, the man tries to have him committed leading to a court case where Doris' lawyer neighbor Fred Gailey tries to prove in court that Kris is the real Santa Claus. More important to Kris throughout all of this is to get Doris and her daughter Susan to believe in him.

Live your life / (Vivre sa Vie : Film en Douze Tableaux ) by Jean-Luc Godard (1962)

Early film Godard and one of the most significant films of the French New Wave. In the fourth artistic director made a tape of his then-wife Anna Karina as Nana, the Parisian shop assistant, who after her divorce from her husband Paul (Labarthe) is trying to become an actress. After seeing a silent film classic Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc ", it leaves the idea and becomes a prostitute. The film is divided into 12 images, which takes place in a cafe, store plates in a police station and on the streets of Paris. Scenes and raised topics ranging from prostitution (with the facts and figures) to the experiments with oral narrative and autobiographical elements (Godard read behind the scenes, Karina plays).
