Three years in the making (which was considered an eternity in the '70s), the Eagles' follow-up to the massively successful, critically acclaimed Hotel California was a major disappointment, even though it sold several million copies and threw off three hit singles. The Hebridean island of Mull off the west coast of Scotland is home to the most spectacular wildlife of any stretch of UK coastline - sea eagles, golden eagles, otters, seals, dolphins, whales and sharks. Spectacular shots of eagles in the nest, of abundant marine life and of the dramatic Scottish landscape. Expert cameraman and presenter Gordon Buchanan returns to his homeland to rediscover its stunning wildlife and magnificent scenery. The Isle of Mull has the highest density of eagles in the United Kingdom, otters in every bay and even whales, sharks and dolphins in the surrounding seas. Gordon's specific mission is to find and film the Sea Eagle, the biggest bird of prey in Europe and one that has only recently returned to the Isle of Mull. Mull also has an exceptional population of Golden Eagles and truly deserves the name Eagle Island. Eagle Island gives Gordon some of his favourite wildlife moments to compare with anything he has seen in Africa, India or South America. "This is the best place in the world. Pillars of California rock, the Eagles get the box set treatment with 2024's To the Limit: The Essential Collection. Released by archival specialists Rhino Records in conjunction with the band's longtime label Elektra, the wealth is spread between three discs that collate highlights from the Eagles' seven studio LPs including the 2007 comeback album Long Road Out of Eden. Also included is a generous helping of curated live tracks culled from 1980's Eagles Live all the way through their 2020 set Live at the Forum MMXVIII. More overview than deep dive, The Essential Collection isn't less concerned with rarities, instead offering the broad sweep of the Eagles' career both as recording artists and performers.
