Gino D'Auri, world renown flamenco guitarist, has died of cancer at his Los Angeles home on 26 January 2007. "These days, many people think that flamenco is about playing sixty thousand notes as quickly as possible. My flamenco is slower, very traditional and down to earth. I may use cello and percussion, but its done in a traditional way, without a lot of notes. For me the music is about feeling and improvisation. I like to take chances, the communication is better that way." ~Gino D'Auri
"Siniestro" is the ninth album by the Pilgrims and marks the 25th year of the five original members staking out their own special corner of the surf instrumental genre. Bobby, John, Ted, Scott and Dave are extremely excited by the 15 original and new songs that they have written, arranged and recorded themselves for “Siniestro”. That’s right, no producer or engineer on this one, they have made “Siniestro” just the way they want it. Recorded by the band in the abandoned Mt. Hood Masonic Lodge in Portland, this recording captures the live feel of a large reverberating room with the band getting back to their surf roots while clicking on all cylinders…
Nyárutó is going to be the 8th studio album of the ultimate Hungarian folk metal band, Dalriada. Album title refers to the folkish name of the month August – following the traditions as every Dalriada album dedicated to a month in line. One unified, ambitious, in terms of its musical keys something similar to the previous records’ vehement wildness album was born, which is still deeply interlaced by the power and effect of the Hungarian folk music and cultural patrimony. Amongst the covered themes there’s one saga from Szent István’s period (the founding of the hungarian state) but ancient Hungarian folk tales, a song about the medieval witch trials, some tracks in remembrance of the “hungarian El Cid”, Thury György (“turkish beater valiant”) also can be found.

Miklós Rózsa and Bernard Herrmann were two composers leading a double life: Educated as serious classical composers who worked for the concert hall, they found their greatest success and life-long careers in the medium of motion pictures – more specifically, in Hollywood. Both men composed some of the most distinguished film scores of all time: Double Indemnity, Ivanhoe, Ben-Hur, King of Kings, El Cid (Rózsa); Citizen Kane, Vertigo, Psycho, and Taxi Driver (Herrmann).
