Kaluta, James Jean, Mark Buckingham, Jill Thompson and more, 1,001 NIGHTS OF SNOWFALL is both an entry point to the critically acclaimed series and an essential part of Willingham's enchanting and imaginative FABLES mythos.Traveling in Arabia as an Ambassador from the exiled FABLES community, Snow White is captured by the local sultan who wants to marry her (and then kill her). But the clever Snow attempts to charm the sultan instead by playing Scheherazade, telling him fantastic stories for a total of 1,001 nights. is a comic book series created by writer Bill Willingham, published by DC Comics's Vertigo imprint beginning in 2002. The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore--referring to themselves as "Fables"--who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York. Willingham reinterprets the characters and infuses his tales with elements current and relevant to our times. As of last year Fables has won 12 Eisner Awards, and the artists involved an additional 13 more, making it the most awarded among current book titles. IGN calls it the best comic book currently being produced. Its reviewer Jesse Schedeen says of Issue #14: "...the core series is extremely engrossing and as exciting as it's ever been. Issue #88 was one of the best I've read in a long time, and issue #89 is even better still." He gives issue #14 an Outstanding 9.1 rating and an Editors' Choice Award.
