Batgirl #1-17 (Ongoing, Update)
9 CBR's 8 CBZ's in 3 RAR's | DC Comics | Release Dates Aug 19 2009 - Jan 26 2011 | 295.75 MB Total

This is an update for the compilation of the ongoing --now Volume 3 in library terms--from issues #1 through the current #17, all high-quality Minutemen scans. The new Batgirl is part of the series of titles launched after DC Comics' successful crossover event. Some might consider Batgirl a bit lighthearted in tone compared to the rest of the current titles of the Batman family but somehow I like it that way. This comic doesn't take itself too seriously, unlike the over-bearing, the-darker-the-tone-the-better approach taken by other creative teams in the Batman family comic books. That's why I like Power Girl, too.

Captain Blood: Odyssey #1 (Of 5)

is a five-issue graphic novel based on the popular 1922 novel by Rafael Sabatini and published by Amazing Ink/Slave Labor Graphics (SLG). The adaptation to the medium is rightly done; the first issue dealing as expected with Peter Blood's transformation from good doctor thrust into an unenviable position by negligence, bad men, and his own moral code, to pirate, starts in the thick of things, as compared to the linear development and progression of the novel. Excellent bare-pencil one-color art, too.

It has been two decades since Dark Horse first provided the matchup of Aliens vs. Predator, which I suppose most comics buffs in the 90's have avidly devoured. Since then, Dark Horse has revisited the concept more than a few times, and the title bout has also been translated to movies. Dark Horse has decided to relaunch the and the franchises in 2009 and apparently this matchup is getting the same treatment, even bringing back the original creative team of Randy Stradley and Rick Leonardi. This series attempts to tie together story threads introduced in the original AvP series and new Aliens and Predator storylines, setting the stage for an epic AvP brawl. One other thing: the cover by Raymond Swanland rocks and it's good it's provded outsized in this HQ Minutemen scan.
