1995: fresh from finishing and releasing his magnum opus, 'Last Train to Lhasa', Toby Marks, aka Banco de Gaia, rolled down to Glastonbury Festival to play on the Avalon Stage in the Field of Avalon. The year was one of the first times dance music had been given significant space at the festival, and Toby’s set was much anticipated, with the marquee completely full by the time he came on stage. The set featured many of his most familiar songs, often given radically new arrangements, turning some previously un-danceable tracks into driving club tunes. Ed Vulliamy described it in his review for the Guardian as “electrifying: symphonic, epic, hugely lyrical music in the best traditions of the early Floyd, underpinned by synthetic energy but aiming at an appropriately earthy message, atop which a flute sometimes danced” and credited the show as the highlight of the year…

Everything falls into place very nicely on this initial volume from Mulgrew Miller's two-day gig at Yoshi's in the summer of 2003. With the strong support of bassist Derrick Hodge and drummer Karriem Riggins, Miller's volcanic virtuosity on the piano is simply stunning. Taking no prisoners with his hard bop dash through the standard "If I Were a Bell," Miller immediately afterward soothes the crowd with Donald Brown's lovely, but only occasionally dissonant, tribute "Waltz for Monk," which might sound to many listeners like more of a salute to Oscar Peterson.

The Clash were the only first-generation punk band capable of (or perhaps interested in) tailoring their up-from-the-gutter firepower to suit arena-size audiences. Here, at last–a decade and a half after their demise–is proof of their substantial stage skills. –by Steven Stolder, amazon.com.

Jo Hell started playing in bars in the Montreal (Canada) area at the age of 16. After two years of playing jam nights seven nights a week, Jo Hell decided to start his own band, which he names "Jo Hell & The Red Roosters". As the years went by, the number of shows increased and the demand for the band became more and more obvious. They appeared at several festivals and the local popularity of the band began to shoot to the top. Many articles in the local newspapers, their appearances at local radio stations and television, as well as on numerous websites confirm the charisma of the band. "Jo Hell & The Red Roosters" came to Austin for "SXSW" in March of 2006. They graced the stage of Nuno's on 6th and were promptly featured at the "Red, White and Blues Festival" at "Waterloo Park" in July of 2006. Since that time the Jo Hell band has recorded 3 new albums: "Jo Hell" (self-titled) (2008), "Live At The Pjeireblues" (2011) and the newest - "Rockin' Land" (2013).

Concerto Teatro Uomo is a live album by Italian Jazz fusion band Area released in 1996 and recorded in in Milan, while the band was supporting their fifth album Maledetti (Maudits). The album was criticized for its sound quality (it was not professionally recorded, unlike their 1975 live album Are(A)zione) and for some packaging errors, but was also praised for its musical content (including extended improvisations) and for Demetrio Stratos' useful information about the tracks during banter between songs. This album was repackaged with another posthumous live album Parigi-Lisbona in the boxset Live Concerts Box.

The story of Landmarq goes back to the year of 1990 in London from the ashes of the also British band Quasar. Steve Leigh (Keys) and Uwe D'Rose (guitar) from Quasar, joined the bassist Steve Gee from Artemis, a lesser known band that supported other acts such as Camel, decided to call Quasar drummer Dave Wagstaffe who was returning from a tour, he and the vocalist Bob Daisley, who joined to form the first lineup. At the beginning of 1991 and after recording a demo, Daisley leaves the band and is replaced by the actor and singer Rob Lewis Jones, who also discovers his vocation is on the theaters and not in the studios, so the band again looses a vocalist, just when they had been offered a contract with the Dutch label SI…

Yak were a 4 piece instrumental progressive rock band who played between '82 & '84. The line up consisted of Robin Hodder (guitar), SySnell (bass), John Wynn (drums) & Martin Morgan (keyboards). The band stopped playing when jobs took the members to disperate parts of the UK. The material had only ever been recorded in Lo-Fi but Martin was determined that it should not be 'lost'. In 2003 he set about re-recording 8 of the YAK tracks which were released as the "Dark Side of the Duck" album in Feb '04. Following this and enthused with the response, the band re-formed - original line up, but now with Max Johnson on bass. A live EP, "Does Your Yak Bite ?" was released in 2005, and the same line-up released the jam collection "The Rutland Chronicles" the following year.

Pain of Salvation - Be Live (2005). An theatrical experience more than a listening experience. "Be" is one of those few albums that is actually set up to be a drama. The whole storyline is bigger than the music itself, with Gildenlow's unabashed and unshameful politics set loose and in full force. As is with most Pain of Salvation releases, the lead man has no hiding of where he stands on global issues and usually has that at the forefront of his music.
Pain of Salvation - The Second Death of Pain of Salvation (2009). Pain Of Salvation can expertly deliver their melodically dense sound in a live concert setting, as evidenced by The Second Death of Pain of Salvation…

Universal's '2 For 1' series, compiling the albums 'Blues Dimension' (1968) and 'B.D. Is Dead, Long Live B.D.' (1969). The band was formed in Zwolle, Overijssel (The Netherlands) in 1966 by Leen Ripke. It was one of the first Dutch groups playing blues and rhythm & blues with horns. They were also one of the few bands in the 1960's that had a respectable three albums out! The band was troubled by the fact that another local band, the more popular Cuby & The Blizzards consequently stole musicians from Blues Dimension. Their biggest hit 'Get Ready' was a cover from Rare Earth. In 1969, the group's breakup was announced in the title of their last album.
