Floating Wind

Nigel Hall and DJ Harrison are multi-instrumentalists known most for their respective main roles as keyboardists in Lettuce and Butcher Brown. Harrison's band backed Hall on Spiritual, a 2021 album that contained a very faithful version of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Caribou," and Hall later assisted Harrison with an update of Roy Ayers' "Coffy." Released only a few months after Harrison's all-covers Shades of Yesterday, The Burning Bush: A Journey Through the Music of Earth, Wind & Fire further explores foundational Black music with the intent of opening gateways for younger listeners. That the album was previewed first with the serene and spiritual "Earth, Wind & Fire" made it clear that the duo's project would be going far beneath the surface. While they don't reference the lesser-known first three EWF albums, Hall and Harrison – joined by members of Lettuce and Butcher Brown, along with bassist Brandon Lane and singer Sam Reed – mix it up with album cuts outnumbering radio staples.

The project started simply because we were on tour with the band, had just finished FYF fest in LA, and had a week before picking up the rest of the tour in phoenix. on the way we stopped for a week near Joshua Tree National Park. the idea was to go somewhere fairly remote and setup to rehearse. it was peak summer, so we setup outside and would be playing throughout the day and night. Suzanne Teng, M. Mus., is a flutist, percussionist, dancer, composer, teacher and recording artist from Berkeley, California. She has a master’s degree in music from Boston University’s School for the Arts and has studied with some of the finest flute teachers in the world. She is an award winning classical musician who, after traveling adventures across the globe, furthered her graduate studies at UCLA’s Department of Ethnomusicology, where she completed the coursework for the Ph.D. focusing on music and healing.

There are many ways to harness the renewable and emissions-free energy available from the Earth's oceans. The technologies include wave energy, tidal and current energy, and energy from thermal and salinity gradients. In addition, offshore wind energy and marine (floating) solar arrays offer a possibility to exploit vast resources that are far larger than those available onshore.
