Freddy Quinn (born Franz Eugen Helmut Manfred Nidl, 27 September 1931, Niederfladnitz, Austria) is an Austrian singer and actor whose popularity within the German-speaking world soared in the late 1950s and 1960s. Similar to Hans Albers two generations before him, Quinn adopted the persona of the rootless wanderer who goes to sea but longs for a home, family and friends. Quinn's Irish family name comes from his Irish born salesman father, Johann Quinn. His mother, Edith Henriette Nidl, was an Austrian journalist. He is often associated with the Schlager scene.

Finden alle Lieder doch an der Gitarre ihren Ursprung, erscheinen sie auf Platte mal eingepackt in einem Hip Hop Beat und treibenden Bässen, mal filigran untermalt von warmen Synthesizer Klängen oder rough mit lauten E-Gitarren und jazzigen Saxophon Solos.

Il repertorio chitarristico del Novecento pone un serio problema al pubblico, innanzitutto la sua grande produzione, in secondo luogo lo stile e la sua provenienza geografica, spesso identificata dal grande pubblico in modo molto ristretto, in terzo luogo la qualità delle composizioni. Alfsonso Baschiera risolve tutti e tre questi problemi con una scelta di repertorio che si concentra su uno degli aspetti meno noti della chitarra che scopre, grazie a questo disco, un repertorio ampio ed affascinante derivante dalla Mitteleuropa della seconda metà del Novecento e proponendo alcuni esempi di grandi opere e veri e propri capolavori, la maggior parte qui in prima incisione assoluta. In aggiunta dona ad ognuno di loro una interpretazione elegante, bilanciata, attenta alle infinite sfumature che la complessità di alcune partiture suggeriscono permettendo di apprezzare appieno un repertorio che a poco a poco si fa strada nel cuore dell’appassionato di chitarra come in quello dell’amante della musica.

Brothers Regino (1896-1981) and Eduardo (1903-1982) Sainz de la Maza were arguably the greatest exponents of the guitar in the 20th century. This exceptional recording highlights the great differences in their music, and thereby also the versatility of the guitar, able to inspire such contrasting expressions from two composers belonging to the same time, the same nation, even the same family.

On April 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th 2018 the legendary Hans Theessink Birthday Bash concerts took place at the Metropol in Vienna. Fans and musical friends came from all over Europe and North America to celebrate Hans’ 70th birthday. The atmosphere was splendid and the performers took us on a marvellous musical journey. The 70 Birthday Bash album is a unique document full of great moments and unusual sessions. Hans Theessink is a great singer, songwriter and a virtuoso guitarist whose great love for American roots music has, over the years, given us some cracking album’s full of blues, rock ‘n roll and country-folk music.
