WaterTower Music will release the official soundtrack album for the monster movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day, Outlander, Colossal). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 24, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is set to come out on June 7 and is available for pre-order here. Listen to two tracks from the album, including Serj Tankian’s cover of Blue Öyster Cult’s classic song Godzilla orchestrated by McCreary, after the jump. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is directed by Mike Dougherty and stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance and Aisha Hinds. The Legendary Pictures production follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. The action adventure will be released in theaters nationwide on May 31 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Director Gareth Edwards (Monsters) tapped award-winning French film composer Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Philomena, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) to provide the score for his 2014 reboot of Godzilla, the world's most famous Kaiju, and Desplat delivers with an efficient, melodic, and undeniably bombastic brass- and percussion-heavy blast of summer blockbuster-appropriate clamor that capably juggles both emotion and destruction, while managing to hold its own against the big lizard's iconic, air-raid siren of a roar.

This collection contains the four albums the band recorded for Restless Records, as well as a disc of demos for the fourth album and a disc of rarities, b-sides and flexi disc recordings. This is the work that helped the band get signed to Warner Bros. Records. The Oklahoma band of "freaks" constantly pushed musical boundaries, resulting in a lot of sonic weirdness. The music here has been re-mastered from original sources by the band's longtime musical foil and producer, David Fridmann, with help by band members Wayne Coyne and Michael Ivins. The four albums are: "Hear It Is" (1986); "Oh My Gawd!!! … The Flaming Lips" (1987); "Telepathic Surgery" (1989); and "In a Priest Driven Ambulance (With Silver Sunshine Stares)" (1990).

Ghetto Love Sugar's Uncertainty Principle is a spacy, dreamy collection of fusion and free jazz that explores repetitive rhythm tracks and experimental sound textures. The psychedelic tapestry woven by the musicians here is quite bizarre and hard to really penetrate, but in the right situation this can be incredible to wrap your mind around and really explore. Nothing resembles typical songwriting here; this is an album that demands an hour of your time and resists any separation of the tracks. With that being said, the sheer complexity of the album makes it very hard to recommend to anyone not willing to invest the mental time into listening to the album.

Composer Alexandre Desplat is one of the most highly sought after composers in Hollywood. He s been nominated for five Academy Awards, six Golden Globes, winning for his score for The Painted Veil, and has two Grammy nominations. He is best known for his contemplative style that does not attempt to respond on a point-by-point basis to the action onscreen, but rather sets its own complimentary mood.
