Auracle, the third album of Lesiem, has proven to be more creative and more innovative than before. This time, Brian Wayy and David Evey have decided to sign another contract to different choir group, this can be proven, as they chosed The German Opera Berlin choir. The first impression about this album that there were several changes can be heard it involves the changes of both the choir voices and the lead singers. While the first and the second lesiem album adopt few same lead singers, Auracle has broken the links of their pattern into bringing in the voice of classic Maggie Reilly who was singing Mike Oldfield's classic favorite song "Foreign Affair", "To France" and "Trick of the Light".

By his twenties, Antonius "Ton" Koopman was already carving a musical niche for himself in which he would rise to become one of the world's most prominent performers in the early music movement. Koopman was born in the Dutch town of Zwolle in 1944. After what he describes as a "classical education," he went to Amsterdam to study organ (with Simon C. Jansen), harpsichord (with Gustav Leonhardt), and musicology. Koopman's musical interests from the outset centered upon the re-creation of older musics on their original instruments in a thoroughly researched historical performing style. He founded his first Baroque orchestra in 1966, followed by an exuberant career (40 years and counting) of mingled performance, conducting, and scholarship.

The songs included on this album are all settings of words by either Elizabethan or Jacobean poets: a period of literature that has been a prime source for song composers since its creation. The Shakespeare texts – all ‘songs’ from the plays – contain the works that made Quilter’s name, and have largely been responsible for his enduring reputation. Nathan Vale studied with Ryland Davies at the Royal College of Music and Benjamin Britten International Opera School. He was awarded an Independent Opera Vocal Scholarship to the National Opera Studio, where he was further supported by the Elmley Foundation, ENO, the Nicholas John Trust and The Seary Trust. He is a former winner of the London Handel Singing Competition where he was also awarded the Audience Prize. He continues his studies with David Pollard.

ROYER: After languishing in obscurity for over two centuries, Pancrace Royer (1705-1755) is now quite well-known for his elegant and dramatic harpsichord music. Music master to the children of Louis XV and composer of the King's Chamber, General Inspector of the Paris Opéra and director of the Concert Spirituel, Royer is also remembered as the subject of a 1742 police report for getting into a heated argument with his rival Jean-Philippe Rameau in public, and for incurring the wrath of Voltaire when he set that author's 'Pandore' to music without asking permission to modify the text! Decidedly, Royer is a figure worthy of further investigation.

On the eve of his centenary in 2018, Sony Classical releases the most important collection, Leonard Bernstein’s classic American Columbia recordings, remastered from their original 2- and multi-track analogue tapes. This has allowed for the creation of a natural balance (for example, between the orchestra and solo instruments) that brings the quality of these half-century-old recordings, excellent for their time, up to the standards of today’s audiophiles. In addition, there has been a meticulous restoration of some earlier masterings in which LP surface noise was too rigorously eliminated at the expense of the original brilliance.

Magdalena Hoffmann’s debut Deutsche Grammophon album, Nightscapes (“a delightful recital” – The Whole Note), earned the artist a 2022 Opus Klassik Young Talent of the Year award for her performances of works from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. And Gramophone wrote: “Hoffmann’s legerdemain still dazzles. … I find her balance of songful lyricism and inexorable forward motion especially impressive”. For her second DG recording, Fantasia, the harpist has travelled further back in time to focus on the music of the Baroque period. Here she showcases her instrument in a selection of fantasias and preludes originally written for keyboard or lute by Johann Sebastian Bach, his sons Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel, and his contemporaries Handel and Weiss.
