Pianist and composer Rowan Hudson has been performing in London and Europe over the last seven years collaborating with a wide variety of ensembles as well as leading his own trio. Here he brings us his Passing Ships, a new five piece ensemble put together to perform his original compositions. With the emphasis on scene setting and atmosphere, the music is often introspective and quiet, with a minimalist approach to composition reminiscent of Philip Glass and Simon Jeffes. The pieces form portraits of places and narratives, with a theme of seas and oceans throughout. The line-up features Rowan Hudson, piano, Sophie Creaner, clarinet, Sophie English, cello, Jj Stillwell, double bass and Angus Bishop, drums & percussion.

MSFTS signee Harry Hudson has finally delivered his debut studio album. The Jaden Smith-approved singer recently teased the project with his ambitious 17-minute visual Can Cowboys Cry, which also featured Jaden playing a character alongside Hudson. Inspired by his emotional journey after overcoming cancer, the lyrics are often striking and raw.

Languishing in the vaults for over thirty years, here are the six tracks that the legendary Keith Hudson recorded at Tuff Gong with the Wailers rhythm section Carlton and Family Man Barrett on drums and bass respectively. These tracks were intended for an album that never came as Hudson succumbed to cancer and passed away in November 1984. The Barrett brothers were augmented by fellow Wailers Junior Marvin on guitar and Tyrone Downie on keys.

Toby Driver is the driving force behind sonic experimenters Kayo Dot, and his colleague on this outing is musician, writer, and filmmaker Nick Hudson. They got together in February in New York for an outing to see Mr Bungle, and decided to make full use of their time by booking some studio time with engineer/producer Marc Urselli. Black Feather Under Your Tongue is the result on 90 minutes of recording, with a deliberate aim for spacious minimalism, all totally improvised. Efficiency at work, I think!

“I first composed this music for myself as an adjunct to meditation, Tai Chi, and bodywork, and as music to play in the background of life, to replace the everyday cacophony with new and ordered sounds of an unpredictable nature. New sounds freed from preconception. …over time, friends who heard the music asked if I could make them copies. I then wrote two more pieces with the same intent: to relax the body, mind, and spirit and facilitate meditation.” - Lou Reed
