UMG will remaster, expand and reissue the six albums the group cut between 1980 and 1991 for the Chrysalis and EMI labels. Each album is sourced from new DSD masters from original U.S. analog tapes, transferred in 24-bit high definition and feature CD-sized reprints of the original inner LP sleeves and Japanese obi strips. (The outer jackets have been replicated as well, with 1982's Picture This utilizing an alternate design released in Japan at the time.) There's 44 bonus tracks among the reissues, from tracks that appeared on previous expanded editions and international pressings to versions making their debuts on CD for the first time. (Sports, the group's 1983 breakthrough, becomes a 2CD set in honor of its 40th anniversary!) Also coming is a CD/DVD Greatest Hits: Japanese Singles Collection that will include 19 of the group's singles released during this time in Japan plus a DVD of 23 rare and commercially unreleased promo videos.

Small World was another platinum hit for Huey Lewis & the News, but the album was noticeably weaker than their previous three records. Lewis tries to position himself as a socially conscious rocker – no less than three tracks have the word "world" in their title – writing songs about the perilous state of the environment and urging everybody to live together peacefully, since "there ain't no livin' in a perfect world." Such sanctimonious and simple lyrical platitudes would be acceptable if the band had written a set of catchy pop to support them.

James Thomas Ramey, better known by his stage name Baby Huey (taken from the Paramount Pictures animated giant cartoon duckling) was born in Richmond, Indiana and moved to Chicago in the early '60s to front his band The Babysitters with co-founders Melvin Deacon Jones on trumpet and Johnny Ross on guitar. By the time they recorded The Living Legend, only Huey and Jones remained (Deacon Jones would go on to play with Freddie King and John Lee Hooker). Because of a glandular disorder, Huey weighed close to 400 pounds at times, contributing to his "larger than life" stage presence, but also to a host of health issues.
