Sports was ranked number 2 on Billboard's 1984 year-end album chart, after Michael Jackson's Thriller, and spawned four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and a fifth that went top 20. It also did very well internationally, with most of its singles reaching chart peaks in various countries.

Huey Lewis and The News' 1983 'Sports' album spawned four Top 10 hit singles - 'The Heart of Rock & Roll,' 'Heart & Soul,' 'I Want a New Drug,' 'If This is It,' and sold almost 10 million copies. To celebrate the blockbuster album's 30th anniversary, Lewis has personally overseen an expanded commemorative edition. Digitally remastered for CD 'Sports (30th Anniversary Edition)' pairs each of the original album's nine songs with choice live versions on a second disc, many of which have never before been released.

Another Story: The Lost Recordings is a 2017 compilation of previously unreleased material by James Ramey, who was known as Baby Huey. This consists of various tracks that were made for his first and only album that was posthumously released. This was released by Rhino.
