It features the outstanding 'Black Marigolds' tunes, that more of a raga in it’s composition the track was inspired by a 2000 year old Indian story which perhaps shows some insight into the Eastern influences that were proliferating throughout many genres at the time.

It tracks his return to India to revisit his guru, the Bengali multi-instrumentalist and composer Allauddin Khan; explores Shankar's life as a musician and teacher in the US and Europe, where he helped to introduce Indian classical music and culture; and looks at his influences, including his dancer brother Uday Shankar, and his work with Yehudi Menuhin and George Harrison. Pandit Ravi Shankar first explored the similarities between Indian music and Jazz in the album, Improvisations (1962), which featured Bud Shank. He gave lessons in Indian music to John Coltrane and Don Ellis and composed the piece, Rich a la Rakha, for Buddy Rich and his own erstwhile tabla accompanist, Alla Rakha. For the Bombay festival, Jazzmine (1980), he wrote pieces for, among others, saxophonist John Handy. Note: Recording Produced In Collaboration With Jazz India Organisers of Jazz Yatra Festival.
