“This has been an interesting album to work on - years of talking about it and putting down all the different ideas in demo form, and then a frantic period of trying to finish it for the scheduled release date. It would have been quite easy to put out ‘The Road of Bones Part 2’ but it felt a bit different this time and we just let the music dictate to us the kind of album it should be.

The second best decade in the history of prog continues to astound by the verge of its end. Maybe this time even more than before… When you hear beautifully wonderful lyrics entwined with the powerful keyboard lines and precise guitar solos most probably you are listening to IQ. Their newest album Resistance is genuine and profound story for the music and history of the music more than ever. It is amazing how the calmness of this undisputible masterpiece has been implicated into every little sequence of the notes, and even into the intervals between the bass tunes. It is charming how this highest level of production, musicianship and songwriting abilities of the band members do not need any aspects of the music / means of expression to be extreme - neither the hardness, nor the intensity, or the complexity.

Released in the wake of Subterranea's success, The Lost Attic: A Collection of Rarities (1983-1999) is exactly what the title says. The reference to Tales From the Lush Attic, IQ's first album (its second if one counts the self-released cassette Seven Stories Into Eight), indicates most of the material included here focuses on the periods when Peter Nicholls was with the band (1983-1985 and 1991-1999), whereas the previous collection J'Ai Pollette D'Arnu was more centered on the Paul Menel years. The Lost Attic includes two unreleased songs from the Subterranea sessions, many fan club-only releases and compilation tracks, a couple of oddities, and three songs from a 1984 BBC session. "Wintertell," an unused song circa Tales from the Lush Attic, presents the band in a different light, very close to 1969 Genesis…
