A lot of adjectives and modifiers have been used to describe : tongue-in-cheek-third-generation fight manga; stylish; ridiculous to the point of avant-garde; a work of genius; so weird it's good; far-out cool. A.E. Sparrow over at IGN described it as "a hell of a good story if you're looking for a very loose take on the cyberpunk genre, with enough action and humor to keep you thumbing through the pages until the end." And with the last and final issue #12 released last December 2, 2010, let's just say this is the comic book series for the serious comic book fan. is an American comic book series published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint. The stories are fictional but set in and around historical events during the Viking Age. Northlanders is written by Brian Wood, illustrated by various artists on a per storyline basis with painted cover art by Massimo Carnevale. The first issue of the series was published on December 5, 2007. Wood has said that the series will be divided into standalone eight issue story arcs separated by two-issue arcs. Northlanders does not have a true main character; the cast and setting change with each story arc. Issues #23-24 are the third and fourth, respectively, in the eight-issue story arc entitled “The Plague Widow.” After a full four issues of two-issue arcs, the series is back to its original format of longer stories placed squarely in the Viking lore. With each story arc, "Northlanders" follows a different character in a tenth- or eleventh-century setting where Vikings have made their mark; sometimes the protagonist is a Viking, as in the first arc, "Sven," while in others the heroes are fighting desperately to repel the Norse invaders. El Imperio del Sol Naciente ha ejercido siempre una irresistible fascinación sobre Occidente, y la fértil imaginación de muchos autores de historietas apelaron a tal encanto para situar allí sus creaciones, con mayor o menor acierto. Esta interesante historia, magistralmente plasmada por Robert Gigi es un muy buen ejemplo de ello, y el documentado prólogo de la misma constituye la mejor puerta de acceso a esta tierra de exotismo y leyenda.

Jan, en classe de 3e B, 1m 65, 49 kilos sur la balance… Insignifiant, n’est-ce pas ? Eh oui, justement, c’est bien ça son problème, à Jan : il n’est vraiment pas simple de se faire une place au soleil, dans ce monde sans pitié. Alors, pour compenser, Jan se passe et repasse, tranquillement au fond du crâne, tout un florilège de scènes imaginaires dont il occupe le premier rôle, inlassablement. Il faut dire qu’il y est secondé par trois grands costauds américains, façon films d’Hollywood, à qui la force, l’audace, l’assurance et la sûreté de jugement ne font jamais défaut. Leur irrésistible charisme réussira-t-il à “contaminer” le frêle Jan ?
