Zoe Knighton and Amir Farid present their seventh cello-piano collaboration — this time from the composer Johannes Brahms. The program includes his sonatas for cello as well as three songs where the cello presents the vocal line wordlessly.

They offer such interesting blends of timbre that one wonders why they have become so rare on concert stages in the meantime: Songs that are accompanied not only by the piano, but also by another instrument.

Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms were bound together for four decades by a great artistic friendship. They shared a common interest and exchanged ideas on a personal and artistic level. The violinist Sophia Jaffé and the pianist Björn Lehmann have been duo partners for many years and are now putting all their experience and love for Brahms and Schumann into a new GENUIN CD. The program includes the three violin sonatas by Johannes Brahms and three violin romances by Clara Schumann – conceivably different works in their scope, yet related in their view of the world and art: romantic treasures, recorded with dedication!

As the “Viennese Violinist” he has developed a remarkable repertoire – consisting of hidden beauties and highly-valued treasures of varied eras. His versatility and passion for chamber music are evident in multiple collaborations with outstanding musicians like Norman Shetler, Christopher Hinterhuber, Hyung-ki Joo, Christoph Ulrich Meier, Julius Berger, José Gallardo and the Neue Wiener Concert Schrammeln.

In this new concerto album one of the greatest violinist of his generation, Christian Tetzlaff, offers profound interpretations of two deeply dramatic and lyrical concertos – those of Brahms and Berg – together with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin conducted by Robin Ticciati.
