"Although Mozart’s five violin concertos represent only a very small part of his output (when compared to the 27 piano concertos and the 41 symphonies), they nevertheless belong to the core repertoire of all violinists. As with his piano concertos, Mozart’s violin concertos were all written in his younger years and are built on a constant dialogue between the solo instrument and the orchestra. Even in the first concerto, the violin is integrated into the orchestral texture, which in itself is much more than a mere accompaniment. Gil Shaham, one of today’s foremost violinists, creates gems of performances with these works. He is accompanied by the SWR Symphony Orchestra under Nicholas McGegan, who is renowned for his expertise in historically informed performance style."

It is hard to believe that one gets used to it; it is amazing that Mozart wrote his five Violin Concertos before the age of twenty; The maturity, especially of the latter two, is that of great masterpieces of maturity. Here is the integral, flanked by the three isolated movements (two Rondos, an Adagio) which are certain to be Mozart's, and other Concertos sometimes attributed to him by mistake or by facetiousness in the case of Henri Casadesus … The Canadian violinist James Ehnes, the "Jasha Heifetz of our time" from a very serious North American newspaper, has assembled here an improvised orchestra assembled in Toronto, the Mozart Anniversary Orchestra, Himself directs the violin. A very sober interpretation, in which the cadences are also signed by Ehnes.

Violinist Arabella Steinbacher studied her first Mozart Violin Concerto in G major at the age of eight. The legendary pianist Arthur Schnabel mentioned that the piano sonatas of Mozart are too easy for children yet too difficult for adults. In Steinbacher’s words: In Mozart one must always make sure that it’s powerful, but at the same time never sounds aggressive and that the sound always remains beautifully pure and almost angelic. And since then the piece has become the underlying theme throughout her career. She played the piece during many important moments of her life. It was also the piece that got Arabella accepted as the youngest students of Ana Chumachenko when she was nine. Yet it never came to a CD recording while listeners regularly ask for it.

He plays with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Mariinsky, WDR Sinfonieorchester, London Philharmonic, and conductors like Gergiev, Dutoit, Jurowski, Masur, Pletnev, Fischer, Temirkanov. · His extensive discography for Brilliant Classics led to great critical acclaim: ..Baráti is out of the top drawer. With intensity of sound, unbridled athleticism and searing leaps into the stratosphere which send a tingle down the spine (Gramophone), Masterful, probing, meditative, it rang with a rare sense of authenticity, and almost majestic scope (Washington Post). He is on the order of magnitude greater than any other violinist Ive encountered in at least 10 years (Fanfare on the Beethoven violin sonatas, with Klára Würtz, piano).

In his relatively short life his achievements were superb. He brought to performances guaranteed technical command, faithfulness to the composer's intent, and sensitivity toward the intricate delineations of musical structure. His fame was built upon extraordinary violin concerto performances and chamber-music appearances with his own Grumiaux Trio.

At 17, Mozart was engaged as a musician at the Salzburg court, but grew restless and traveled in search of a better position…
