'Assembly' showcases carefully curated singles, fan favourites, and archival rarities from the Joe Strummer solo catalogue. This 16-track compilation features three previously unreleased versions of classic Clash tracks, including the never-before-heard 'Junco Partner (Acoustic)' and electrifying live performances of 'Rudie Can't Fail' and 'I Fought the Law', the latter two of which were recorded by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros at London's Brixton Academy on November 24, 2001. George Harrison's passion for introducing the world to new music expressed itself in May of 1974 when he created his own new label - Dark Horse Records. The label contained a variety of talented artists on its roster, including George himself. 'Assembly' marks the first new Joe Strummer title released via the newly relaunched Dark Horse Records.

Joe Pass became famous with his unaccompanied guitar showcase on Virtuoso, the beginning of a very notable series. However, this 1983 double LP actually preceded the first Virtuoso by a month and differed in that Pass exclusively chose to play acoustic guitar, rather than electric. The relatively little-known set finds the guitarist sounding very much like a self-sufficient orchestra, and although his tone is necessarily softer on acoustic than electric, he swings hard on the uptempo pieces. Among the many highlights are "Indian Summer," "My Shining Hour," "I'll Remember April," and "Limehouse Blues."

First-ever career-spanning, 2-CD/Digital collection from the legendary Pittsburgh Rock and Roller! • Features contributions from Steve Cropper, Ian Hunter, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Van Zandt, Mick Ronson, Ellen Foley, and many more. • Packaging contains liner notes from Mike Ragogna and Joe Grushecky with special Track-by-Track remarks from Joe Grushecky. Joe Grushecky grew up in the coal mining town of Biddle, Pittsburgh, but after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show—he soon had a guitar in hand, and a future in Rock ahead of him. Joe worked as a Special Education educator by day, while his band, Iron City Houserockers gigged by night. They were signed in 1979 by Steve Popovich to his Cleveland International (home of Meat Loaf, Jim Steinman, Ronnie Spector). From the first album Love’s So Tough through the present day, Joe solo, and with various incarnations of the Houserockers, journeyed through albums filled with hard-edged rock with lyrics true to their Pittsburgh Steeltown roots. Albums have included productions and contributions from Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople), Mick Ronson (David Bowie), Steve Van Zandt, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Cropper (Booker T. & The MG’s), and many others. Throughout the 40 years of Joe’s career, he has always balanced his passion for caring for those in need with delivering blistering, energetic rock, while simultaneously breaking boundaries on other fronts.

This recording was the third and final matchup between guitarists Herb Ellis and Joe Pass and, unlike the first two (which were both made for Concord), this is a duo date rather than a quartet session. Pass was just beginning to gain recognition for his remarkable unaccompanied solos, but Ellis had not recorded in such a sparse setting before. They complement each other quite well on such tunes as "Love for Sale," "Seven Come Eleven," "Oh, Lady Be Good," "I've Found a New Baby," and two versions of "Cherokee."

Smokin' Joe Kubek is pure Texas blues - he's a forceful guitarist and his band rocks with a loose, greasy vibe. What makes the album so much fun is the combination of solid material and piledriving performances - it may follow a tradition, but it manages to be unpredictable.
