Laurindo Almeida (Guitarist) does such a wonderful job of pairing Easy Listening, Jazz, Bossa Nova/Latin, and Pop music for a cool, relaxing instrumental album from 1967. Perfect for a day at the beach, a romantic dinner, or to be enjoyed on late nights, "A Man And A Woman" is a rare treasure of excellent music.

Although Laurindo Almeida was involved in many top notch authentic Bossa Nova albums, he was hardly a purist and didn’t mind mixing pop elements with Bossa Nova with the intent of reaching a broader audience. Such is the case with “Viva Bossa Nova!” from 1962, the rhythms are pure Bossa Nova, and they are expertly played, but the melodies come from popular movies and TV shows.

This classic Bossa Nova album has finally been produced on CD. The great late Laurindo Almeida plays acoustic and electric guitar on this collection of bossa tunes. Best cuts are "Um Abraco No Bonfa" and "Manha De Carnaval." Also "Choro For People In Love" is a pretty slow tune. This is a must-have for all bossa lovers. ~Amazon

Three weeks after completing his meeting with Luiz Bonfá and only two days after the epochal Getz/Gilberto sessions, Stan Getz was back in the studio recording more bossa nova. Producer Creed Taylor was obviously striking while the iron was hot, getting in as many Brazilian sessions as he could, yet the quality of the music-making remained consistently marvelous. Continuing his practice of running through one star guitarist after another, this time Getz has Laurindo Almeida as the designated rhythm man, featured composer, and solo foil.
