Joe Walsh attempts and nearly makes the free throw that wins the game. Great songs like "I Can Play That Rock & Roll" and "Space Age Whiz Kids" show he hasn't lost his edge. But the big claim to fame on this record is his "I.L.B.T.s" or "I Love Big Tits." Rather retro in feel, like the title, it harkens back to a wackier time. Good, but flawed.

Released in the wake of Subterranea's success, The Lost Attic: A Collection of Rarities (1983-1999) is exactly what the title says. The reference to Tales From the Lush Attic, IQ's first album (its second if one counts the self-released cassette Seven Stories Into Eight), indicates most of the material included here focuses on the periods when Peter Nicholls was with the band (1983-1985 and 1991-1999), whereas the previous collection J'Ai Pollette D'Arnu was more centered on the Paul Menel years. The Lost Attic includes two unreleased songs from the Subterranea sessions, many fan club-only releases and compilation tracks, a couple of oddities, and three songs from a 1984 BBC session. "Wintertell," an unused song circa Tales from the Lush Attic, presents the band in a different light, very close to 1969 Genesis…

Kritiker nannten Gil Scott-Heron zu Beginn der 1970erJahre die wichtigste schwarze Stimme seit Martin Luther King Jr. und bezeichneten ihn als schwarzen Bob Dylan. "His poetry is with much muscle, with stiletto humor, with street talk, much of it justifiably angry and accurate", schrieb die "New York Times" 1975 staunend über den wütenden Mann aus der Bronx. Kein Wunder, dass Jahrzehnte später Scott-Heron als der "Godfather of Rap", der Pate des HipHop, gefeiert wurde.

Bruce Springsteen once said he intended to make an album with words like Bob Dylan that sounded like Phil Spector where he sang like Roy Orbison, a nifty summary of many, but not all, of his artistic ambitions and a key to his appeal.

Few front men can claim to have had such a lengthy and far-reaching career as Graham Bonnet; first finding fame as part of The Marbles, enjoying a hit with the Bee Gees’ ‘Only One Woman’ in 1968; a solo career across the 70s; further success with the Bee Gees’, and the disco flavoured ‘Warm Ride’. But Graham found what was possibly his greatest success replacing Ronnie James Dio in Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow for 1979’s “Down To Earth”, and the worldwide hit singles ‘All Night Long’ and ‘Since You Been Gone’. Solo success beckoned with ‘Night Games’ and the “Line-Up” album in 1981, before briefly joining The Michael Schenker Group for 1982’s “Assault Attack”.
