The son of legendary chanteur Serge and the brother of actress/singer Charlotte, Lulu Gainsbourg finally followed in his family's musical footsteps at the age of 25 with this tribute record, From Gainsbourg to Lulu. Its 16 covers of his late father's work include five solo numbers, collaborations with both English-language artists (Scarlett Johansson on "Bonnie & Clyde"), and some of his homeland's biggest stars (M on "Requiem pour un Con"), and tracks recorded solely by the likes of Iggy Pop ("Initial BB"), Shane MacGowan ("Sous le Soleil Exactement"), and Vanessa Paradis & Johnny Depp ("Ballade de Melody Nelson").

(Everyone knows that Alexandre Dumas is one of the giants of French literature, the author of such works as The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte-Cristo. What is less well-known is that many of Dumas’s great novels were written in collaboration with another writer, Auguste Maquet. To preserve his anonymity and allow Dumas to take the full credit for their work, Maquet was given a substantial fee. When Dumas is at the height of his literary success, Maquet decides to pass himself off as his illustrious partner, so that he can seduce Charlotte, one of Dumas’ most fervent admirers.
