Sans conteste le groupe de heavy metal le plus influent des années 80 et 90, Metallica repousse les limites du trash, utilisant la vitesse et le volume pour donner plus de puissance à leurs compositions complexes. Commençant dans le milieu underground, le quatuor originaire de Los Angeles devient au fil des albums de plus en plus populaire jusqu’à devenir le groupe le plus emblématique du genre à travers le monde. La formation du groupe remonte à la rencontre entre James Hetfield (chant et guitare) et Lars Ulrich (batterie) en 1980. Ce dernier tente d’intégrer les Leather Charm, groupe de metal dont Hetfield est le leader. L’essai se solde par un échec cuisant pour le batteur dont la bonne volonté ne suffit pas à pallier ses insuffisances techniques. En 1981 pourtant, il reprend contact avec Hetfield et le convainc de monter un groupe avec lui. Ron McGovney et le guitariste jamaïcain Lloyd Grant se joignent à eux et les quatre musiciens prennent le nom de Metallica.

Everything seems to indicate that Metallica is the first show victim of the extended arrangements at the National Stadium. As La Tercera reported over the weekend, the dilation of the completion of the works around the Ñuñoa Coliseum (the so-called ‘Sports Park’, under construction for the 2023 Pan American Games) have jeopardized the agreed date for the Californian show, postponed since 2020 due to the pandemic and now set for April 27.

Metallica is an American heavy metal band. The band was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, and has been based in San Francisco for most of its career.] The band's fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding "big four" bands of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. Metallica's current lineup comprises founding members and primary songwriters Hetfield and Ulrich, longtime lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo. Guitarist Dave Mustaine (who went on to form Megadeth after being fired from the band) and bassists Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton (who died in a bus accident in Sweden in 1986) and Jason Newsted are former members of the band.
